I always enjoy blog entries where the author shares links to interesting, fun or thought-provoking things they've seen that week. So who wants to share?
I'll go first:
- I thought this article was FASCINATING, by a guy who gave up the internet for a year, and what he learned from it (and it's probably not what you'd expect).

- And my favorite I can Has Cheezburger of the week:

That was a great article. Sorry I don't have anything interesting to contribute, but I'll be watching this thread to see what gems the rest of you have found. :D

Wow. Those were both awesome--in totally different ways. Thank you for sharing that article. I am not going to talk down about my internet addictions anymore. :D

That article Traci posted was really good... I agreed with some of it. But I started twitching so bad I had to stop reading it towards the end. Yeah... I have issues. I think I worry too much. :(
And the article about the guy who gave up the Internet was GREAT. I've always wondered if my life would be so much fuller, richer, better without it. It's good to know its not all bad. :)

Ok, so I totally agree with this, except that my fear of letting my kids play outside alone are for different reasons. We live right by a school, so there are lots of over-concerned parents who walk their kids to and from school every day and I'm afraid of being called by CPS for neglecting my kids. ;)
They are still young (3.75 and almost 2), so I always have an eye on them from inside, testing the waters for 5-10 minutes at a time to grow my trust because I DON'T want to be one of those parents, but I just see the people staring down my kids and looking for the adult in charge and feel this overwhelming mommy guilt. Our backyard isn't fenced in either, so I can't lock them to the backyard like many of my friends do. Can I really get mad when my son goes to the front yard to look at our pretty flowers and pick some dandelions for me? Growing up my dad knew everyone on our street and they would all say hi to us and talk to us about our bikes or roller blades or whatever else we were doing. Bit even the neighbors we know can look at us pretty weirdly.
Parenting is hard.
