Father's Day in the US is a week from this coming Sunday (June 16th). Katie (my 14 yo) will be off at camp in NC with the Y, so we're celebrating early.

My girls decided to give my husband "The Ultimate Lazy Day" this Sunday. They are going to let him sleep as late as he wants. Then bring him breakfast in bed. We are making a basket of snacks for him to keep with him in bed while we watches TV or plays video games for the day. They want to put Dr. Pepper 10 in a cooler for him to keep by the bed as well. I plan to help them wash and clean out his car and maybe find a few other chores around the house to do for him. They want me to go get dinner from the BBQ place down the road he says he always wants to try but we never do. Sounds like a pretty nice day to me!

Then on the real Father's Day, Hannah (my 10 yo) and I will take him to a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game and out to dinner.

Just curious what the rest of you have planned.

That sounds wonderful for him!! Wish we could offer something as great for my hubby - we have kids that are 6, 4 and almost 2, so a little break from parent duties is always nice! But on Father's Day this year, we will be finishing our over 1,000 mile drive to our new home. I don't know... maybe the gift I can give him is the fact that I'll drive the car with the three kids and DVD player while he drives his car by himself!

I'm sure we'll celebrate a belated Father's Day at some point :)

Yeah I got nothin! My boyfriend is going up north with the kids to go camping with Grandpa. I'm staying home because I have to work. So I guess he doesn't WANT me to do anything? LOL.

Well for mother's day "I" got a tablet, which my husband is on constantly. So...not really "mine". Maybe for father's day I will get him a silhouette cameo.

hahaha :D Well, they say you should give a gift that you would like... ;)

It's Sunday... hubby works radio. So, probably just grill out some steaks on the grill and I'll have Jake make a card or something. Hubby doesn't get into these "Hallmark" holidays, as he calls them... :(

Your lazy day sounds like our 'daddy appreciation days' :) We do those pretty often. They started when I was a SAHM and my husband was working an ungodly amount of hours to take care of us. We've never done that for Father's Day though.

We don't really get in to Mother's Day and Father's Day. We do special days when they are needed instead. Father's Day is a very difficult day for both of us. Our first son together was born (prematurely and passed away) on Father's Day in 2001. Since then it is hard to really celebrate the day without thinking about him. His birthday is on June 17th, so it doesn't always fall on Father's Day but that year it did and that is what sticks with us.

Don't remind me how fast June is flying! My oldest will be 11 on the 24th!!

In theory I knew Father's day was coming up, but I didn't realize it was next weekend! Yikes .... needless to say, I haven't made any plans yet, lol.

That's me, too. Not sure what we'll do yet. We'll start with DH sleeping in and end with going out to dinner at the restaurant of his choice and then me putting the kids to sleep while he relaxes. I have no idea what will come in between those, though. He wants some new BBQ tools, so I'll probably get him a gift card to pick those out and the kids will make gifts or cards. LOL-his real gift comes later in the week. I'm taking the kids to visit family, and he'll have the house to himself for a few days before he joins us over the weekend.

my birthday falls on father's day this year, and i'm HOPING to get to go home. i don't wanna put the stress on my car ($3600+ in work and repairs this year alone), so we're looking into renting a car for a couple days. i'm hoping it works out. if we do go home, it'll be a day at the lake if the weather is nice. my grandfather got a new boat finally, so we'll hopefully go out on the boat and relax for a bit.

i know that dinner will most likely be pork tenderloin on the grill. that's what dad and grampa always like. and i could totally go for that (i usually choose what i want for dinner at my birthday dinner). as for gifts and things, i have no idea. i have to get a card for my dad and one for my grampa. we don't usually do tons of gifts for father's day. i think my mom got grampa something for the boat, and she'll sign my name to it like she always does. as for dad, who knows. he's the second most difficult person to shop for.
