is driving me CRAZY!!!:blink::rolleyes: Twice I have uploaded and gone to Costco to get my pics. Twice they have blown up my pics and cut off the scalloped edges. So, I finally talked to a girl today who said she would make sure they are done right this time - the third time...

Kathi, what size are you printing? If you are doing 8x8s I always put the 2 layouts on a 12 x 18 and print them that way, then just cut them with a straight edge and exacto knife when I get them back. I had the same problem when I tried doing them on an 8 x 10 or 8 x 12 sheet..... the edges were ALWAYS cut off. They can't do anything about that because it is the marginal error in the printing process. I pay $2.99 a sheet, so each 8x8 is $1.50. HTH!

PS Love the new avie!

Oh that sucks Kathi! I hope that they get it right this time!

How close are your images to the edge? For work, we have to leave a 1/4 inch gutter around the edges for accidental trimming or shifting during printing.

I am TRYING to print my 6x6 scallop album pages. I think I finally have it figured out though. I'm doing 8x8 ($1.49 ea) with a white background so that will be the border and they won't stretch my LO. I tried printing it just 8x8 with no border and they stretched it. Before that I tried 6 pages on a 12 x 18 and the edges were cut off that too! I'm sure the third time's a charm!!!

P.S. Thanks for the avi comment Cindy!!!

We would have the same issues with Sam's sometimes - with just regular photos. But I hope it works out for you at Costco!

ok. . . i ran into my 1st snag too! i had my disc all ready and went to Costco today to print, and their software now requires files to be saved at 200 dpi and then it bumps them up to 300 automatically. . . .. WHAT?! anyway, they couldn't read my files, so i went home empty-handed and will be going back tomorrow!

WHAT?????? That doesn't make any sense at all... How can it bump them up from 200 to 300 without distorting the pictures?

Yea....that makes no sense. And besides, a jpg is a jpg regardless of resolution. So there's no reason why they shouldn't have been able to read the files ont eh cd....

i'm printing 12x36 and the gal there said that the largest the file could be was 7200x2400 which equates to 200 dpi. . . . so, i guess i'll just try again!

That still seems odd to me Tana! Did you try uploading online to see what it says?

I have to say, I am a HAPPY CAMPER now!!! My pics turned out fabulous!!! I can't wait to put them on the chipboard....

i changed the dpi on my files. . . and dh took them back to Costco while i ran kiddos around(how sweet was that? ), and they look great. they do seem to be enlarged just a bit, so i'm going to have to cut off more of the edge than i wanted to, but we'll see how it all turns out.

i checked about uploading online. . . .but, with printing the 12x36 you can't even upload enlargements that size. it's just more cost effective for me to print that way($4.99 for the 12x36 vs. $2.99 for the 12x18).

Geez! Guess these are just more reasons to print at home or use Shutterfly! ;) The two Costcos near me both get so incredibly crowded and the parking lots are enough to drive you insane, so I try to stay away unless we absolutely need to go. I've used Kinko's before, and in printing pages for my own use I haven't found anything more worthwhile than doing it on my Canon printer using Epson matte finish paper! Eventually I want to upgrade to the Epson large-format beauty that Jessica Sprague has, but that's a long way off! :)
