Does anyone have a Kindle with the special offers? Is that a pain or not a big deal? Do you ever use any of the offers?

My NookColor's battery won't hold a charge anymore so I'm thinking of switching to Kindle Fire. I don't have a lot of purchased books on my NC that I haven't read and it IS still functional, just getting to be a pain when I pick it up and the battery is dead. And since I've had it since they came out, the web is super slow (except it does play Netflix just fine).

I'm not looking to spend a ton of money so I don't think I would go above the Fire HD.

I have the regular Kindle with special offers (haven't used it in awhile though) and I think they really only show on the bottom of the home screen and on the screensaver. So not really a big deal, if you want more info about one of the offers you just click it. I did get one of my girls the Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and got her the one with special offers since it was cheaper!

I have the special offers one and it's not a big deal. it's the screen saver and a small bar in some screens, but nothing obtrusive or annoying. I'
ve actually gotten some good deals from it

I've got several Kindles with Special Offers and I don't mind them a bit-I too, have gotten a few deals because of the advertisements. I say, buy the cheaper, save money, and spend it on something else you want!

I have the one with offers and it's no big deal at all. Very unobtrusive. I wouldn't pay more to get the one without it.

It's never been a big deal for me. There's a sleep screen that there will be an offer on, but it never pops up an offer in the middle of a book or anything like that.

Concurring with the other girls. We just bought a Kindle Fire after I've used my old Kindle Touch with Special Offers for so long, and I opted to get the Special Offers again cause it's so not a big deal.

Thanks for all the input! It does say they are only on the lock screen, so that would not be bad at all. And I'd rather put the extra money to the bigger GB than one without the offers I think.

And that's another question - do you have the 8GB or 16GB and have you run out? I know I run out on my 16GB on my phone, but I put too many apps on it.

One reason I liked my NC was the extra card you could put in it. And then I never used it.

Well, the Kindle Fire we're getting for Christmas is the 64GB. We got a good deal on it back over Black Friday, and Jeff is a techy nerd who wanted the bigger one. I was going to go with 16 personally, but wouldn't budge on that one.

And as a side vent, he's making me wait til Christmas to play with it. Spoil sport.

Oh, FUN Libby! I'm looking at the cheapest Fire which only goes up to 16GB. Hoping that will be enough!

And yes, if I get this, I won't get it until Christmas either. I wish I had thought of this earlier to get in on some of the good deals.

Ahhh gotcha. We went with the HDx - something about the processor or graphics something or other that he liked better. LOL

We've never had a tablet of any kind before though, so his theory was "if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it right."

I think if I were you, I'd go with the 16 just to be on the safe side. What do you plan to use it for mostly?

We have the HD 16gb with special offers. Totally unobtrusive only on the lock screen. We loaded up a handful of lowes movies on it for our vacation and still have 2 GB left. I'd go for 16 because it seems like we always want more space, not less. ;)

I'd go for the 16- holds more movies and books when you need it to

I'll use it mostly for reading, but I like the options of the Fire. Not sure if I would download movies or not. I never did on my NC. I'm not sure even how big that is.

But yes, I would hate to get it, start using it for downloading stuff and then run out of space.

Oh, and I play Free Cell Solitaire every night! LOL Honestly this year my brain has been so sidetracked by other things that I haven't read nearly as much as I usually do. That's my other reason for getting this, maybe it will get me back in the mode as there is nothing worse than sitting down to read and having the battery be dead.

Hope the battery lasts on the Fire!

Get Fairway Golf solitaire once you get the Kindle! It's my fav. I have the 8GB Fire and have like half that left on it. I don't watch much on it, mostly streaming & if I do download a movie or two I delete them when I am done so I have never had an issue with it.

I don't mind the offers at all, sometimes they are actually good offers, lol.

Note: :) It looks like Amazon has the Kindle Fire HD 7" the 16 gb model on sale right now for $159.00 instead of $169.00. It is also in stock right now-the 8gb is out of stock tille the 20th.

Oh thanks! I guess I better decide soon!
