When we built our house (3 years ago!) we had the 'formal diningroom' closed off with the promise that it could be my craft room. So far its just been the room that held everything we didn't have another place for instead. I've finally conviced my husband that I NEED a room - and he is willing to help relocate most everything in there - so I need to jump on it fast! LOL
I'd love to have an open work area where the kids and I could both be working at the same time. And need a good, cute, storage solution since there is no closet in the room.
Anyone willing to share their areas or even just their wish lists? Thankfully my husband is pretty handy so I'm hoping he can make a lot of it and save on the $$. So far all I know for sure is I want to paint it a coral color - how is that for a plan? :p
TIA!

Wow, how fun is that!!!! I miss my craft room I had in my old house. We are in military housing now and don't have the room. :( Don't have any suggestions for ya, but ya gotta take pics when it is done so we can see!!!

Search on Flickr "craft rooms" and a BUNCH will come up. In 2peas gallery too.
If I could, I'd have a million of those cubes they make. Some with drawers, some with shelves, etc. And a tons and tons of shelf space. And a giant desk where the legs are moore like bookshelves so I can store my most used goodies there.

Lucky you! If you have lots of wall space, hang up some metallic boards so you can use those canisters or pen holders with magnets on them. That will leave you more table space. You can also use a spice rack and little spice bottles for storing buttons, brads, little bits like that.

IKEA! ikea is an AMAZING resource for crafters. and the stuff isn't too expensive. my whole craft area is done from ikea. well, other than the built in cabinets. but the rest is all ikea.
their 'expedit' (?) bookshelves are great. they come with drawer inserts or doors. or baskets. if i didn't have all my cabinets, that's what i would have done. but i LOVE ikea.

Try looking for reduced countertops too at home depot or lowes..they make great desktops or large workspaces

Agreed. I accidentally stumbled upon craft room photos at 2peas (www.2peasinabucket.com) and I COULD NOT BELIEVE the incredible rooms these people have. I thought mine was pretty loaded...I was wrong!! (And mine's a MESS - perhaps when I clean it I'll post some photos.)

Oh I'm green with envy, LOL! I would love to have a room that is totally mine, but right now I share an office with DH and all the shipping supplies for work.
Maybe in our next house!
