although I signed up for this quite some time ago, I never actually did much with it. But now that I'm back in the swing of things and regularly reading 3-5 books a week, I'd like to use it as a way to track/keep up with what I've already read. My memory isn't what it used to be and I'm notorious for buying books I've read before [but don't own a copy of].

so I'm curious how most of you use it. should i go back and add a lot/most of the titles I've already read, or would you just start fresh with what you're reading now?

if you're on Goodreads, be sure we're hooked up. I'm always on the prowl for something different/new to check out! I like a wide variety of subject matters, although don't go for much of the tragically sad stuff.

I went back and added some of my favorite books that I had read in the past. Or ones that I could remember. And I've added every book I've read since signing up for Goodreads. I wish it gave you recommendations based on your ratings!

I've been contemplating checking this out. I love to read and started logging my books on Google Books maybe around 2012? I'll be following this thread. I wonder how long it would take to transfer my titles over.

I love Goodreads! If you're already using another book service, see if there's a way to export your book list. Then you can just import them into Goodreads. I periodically export my list just so I have a backed up copy saved on my HD.

I love Goodreads, if I come across something I've read I might add it but I pretty much started from scratch. I really like it though, I have a horrible memory and have been known to find myself halfway through a book and realize I've already read it. There are a few people I follow that seem to have very similar tastes and when I'm stuck I love having their lists to peruse.

I use goodreads all the time. I am a big reader too so I try to keep everything up to date as I read but I will go back and compare books to others and add in ones I have read in the past if I see some. I also made a group for Books I Have but Haven't Read, because I am forever buying books that I already have.

Add me if you want - I love new goodreads friends!

I usually forget to add in the title of books I've read although it's a great way to check on what you're already read, especially if they redo a book cover and I might not recognize it on the shelf as one I've read. What I do use GR for is to search for new books to read and read the blurb about it. I've found lots of new fave authors through GR.
