Photoshop users, please help! I've spent most of today working on this layout. All of a sudden, the program seemed to glitch, and now my saved files look like this. All the layers are there and appear to be in tact, but obviously this isn't the way my page is supposed to look. Anyone have experience with this, and is there anything I can do to salvage my work? I am using Photoshop CC 2014.

are they saved as PSDs? try saving a copy as a TIF file, if so. did you close photoshop, restart your computer, and open photoshop back up?

They were saved as TIFFs, and yep, I've closed down PS, restarted the computer, etc, but the files still look that same way. :crying:

hmmy... looks kinda like a ram issue.. is cc 2014 up to date? is photoshop CC still installed? i found when my photoshop cc 2014 was being glitchy that uninstalling photoshop cc helped a lot.

photoshop usually scales down a 12inx12in layout to 16.7%.. i found that when it was shrunk, the layout looked all jagged etc but when i'd blow it up to 33% or 50% it looked fine. have you tried saving a copy as a JPEG?

Mystie, thank you for your responses. I'm using a brand new MacBook Air (less than two months old) and just installed the new paid version of CC 2014 last weekend. (I'd previously been using the trial version).

okay, well.. not a ram issue then.. did you migrate any presets from the trial version?

I am not sure. I really haven't changed any of my settings when I went from the free to the paid version.

when you click on the tiff to open the file.. does it popup in photoshop or do you use another program to preview it? do you have another image editor you could open the layout in to see if its corrupted across all of the computer or just photoshop?

It looks corrupted in the preview as well. :(

what a bummer :[ I wish I had some helpful input.. I've yet to figure out a way to fix my files that have become corrupted. I usually get weird red & black stripes on mine :[ The fact that the thumbs look wrong too leads me to believe they're beyond repair :[

Did something happen? PS crash? computer crash? or was it just like that when you re-opened them?

That is so weird! Have you pulled up older layouts and if so do they look like this too? Have you replacing the photos and resaving? (Is that a word?)

Nope, nothing crashed. I was just working on my layout like normal, went to place on element onto the page and got this really weird shadow-looking thing. Hit ctrl z, and it was still there. So then, I saved the file and exited the program. Completely shut down PS and reopened it, and the files were a hot mess. I tried restarting the computer with the same end result. In the end, I just gave up and started over. :crying:

All the older layouts look fine thankfully. I tried copying some of the journal cards and the photos from the messed up layout onto a new one just to see what would happen, and everything from the original LO looks totally deformed.

The only difference between this LO and previous LO's is that I decided to work on this one as a TIFF instead of a PSD in order to save space. I can't imagine that would matter though.

So are you going to just remake the page then?

Yeah, I started over last night. Wasn't sure what else to do. I did read online that this appears to be a somewhat common issue with PS CC 2014. I sincerely hope that isn't the case because I just switched from the trial version to the paid version a week ago. In the past, I've only used PS CS and never experienced anything like this. Sure does take the fun out of scrapping when something like this happens. :(

Personally I didn't like PS CC and it caused problems on my computer. Folders would pop up that I did not open, my whole LO file was sent to trash and I did not send it over. Thank goodness I always see what's in trash before emptying it. I canceled it, but had to pay $60 for breaking my contract. To me it was worth it to pay the $$ and stop using CC.

I know many people use it and like it, but it was acting so strange and it was causing too much stress and like you said it takes the fun out of scrapping.

Good luck. You might try using Time Machine and see if you can find the good LO before it was corrupted.

Oh no! That makes me super nervous. What are the odds though that I would use the trial version with no issues whatsoever, and as soon as I switch over to the paid version, this happens?

As for Time Machine, I didn't have it set up prior to this incident but am rethinking that now. I actually just posted a new thread asking for feedback re. Time Machine (which I see you replied to; thank you!). I am wondering about the advantages of using Time Machine vs. an online backup system like Crash Plan. Like I said in the other thread, it just seems like a bit of a hassle to have something constantly plugged into my laptop for backup, but if it saves my files and prevents catastrophes like these, I may just have to suck it up and deal.
