And I can't post on facebook because I don't want any of my family to start asking questions...
No, I'm not pregnant. LOL That's not even a possibility.
We went and checked out a house tonight that we are seriously considering. If you are the praying kind, please pray that we make the right decision with this and that if it be God's will that we find a way to make it work. :)
Hubby has said for a while he wants some property. Not too much, but enough to have a few chickens, maybe a goat or two, etc. My daughter has always wanted a horse. Property in the country is at a premium around here. We've scoped out a few over the past year but they were all either way too expensive, way too far out (not willing to change jobs, school districts, etc.) or in deplorable condition, sometimes all three.
The other day Sean said he got this feeling he needed to call about this house he had seen up for auction way back when. He called and the agent who returned his call told him it had sold. He said he felt like God had told him to call about this house and to find out it was sold just seemed wrong. On Monday she called back and said that she wrong. The house was still available. Would we like to see it? We drove by it that day to look at the property and distance from work, school, shopping, etc. Today we went and saw the inside of the house.
We are smitten. It needs work, but the issues are cosmetic. It has almost 10 acres, a barn (already set up for horses!), a chicken coop, fenced in yard for the dogs, etc. We started making phone calls to see what we need to do to put the offer in. The house is a foreclosure so she said we'd have to have loan pre-approval with our offer. That shouldn't be a problem, but we've never done things that way. The homes we've bought in the past have all been us getting the loan after putting in the offer.
Anyway, we'd have to carry two mortgages for a bit because we'd need to do a little work on that house before we move in to it and then a little bit on this house after we move out. That is the only hurdle and the kind of scary part. We could make it work, but it will be tighter than we are used to, for sure.
I'm excited... like REALLY excited. I am trying not to think about it. I LOVE the house we are in, but it doesn't really meet our needs anymore. It was perfect when our kids were 3 and 6 but they are 10 and 13 now and our needs have changed. They got bigger. Their stuff got bigger. Their need for privacy increased and our need for a little peace did too!
Here are two pictures we took tonight...

THIS. This kid has wanted a horse since she was 2. We could make it happen if we lived there. Wouldn't that be awesome?
