Am finally sick of replacing my phone and need a tablet for uni so next week I'll be jumping ship from andriod to apple. I'm considering the iphone 5s & ipad mini 2.I've only used apple products a couple of times so I'm nervous & its an expensive change for me so does anyone have any tips or must have apps (particularly a good office type app, pdf reader app for uni)

If you have an Apple Store next to you, most have free classes you can take. Enjoy! I love all my Apple devices!

I use my HP laptop for scrapping, but I use a Mac Book Pro at Work and hubby have a Mac Boot too.

I think is a learning curve with the computers (took me like a month to "not think" everything) but is really easier.

I have an iPad2, and so does my kid. I bought them on Feb 14 of 2012 and they are still up and running. Just have to change the cristal on the screen after a nasty fall (note to self... covers are important)

And a year ago I switched from Blackberry Q10 to IPhone6 and hubby schitched from Samsung S3 to IPhone6 too and we love it, no regrets.

I'm a Mac girl. Love my Macbook Pro and my iPhone.
You don't need a pdf reader - things will open automatically on your iPhone or iPad.
For programs for word type documents or excel, use Pages and Numbers. They were free when I bought my last apple product, but might have a low price. They can also save documents as pdf or as word file formats. They are a bit different than Word but intuitive to learn.
Good luck - hope you like the apple products!

I love my macbook pro, ipad mini 3 and my new iphone 6s. I upgraded from an macbbok air to pro and from iphone 5s to 6s and love them both. I got my first smartphone when the first iphone came out and haven't looked back since. I absolutely love that everything just syncs my pictures via icloud, that way I have my pictures ready for scrapping almost instantly and I always just use my iphone to take pictures.

If you've been having trouble with android phones the think twice before switching to Apple.
If you do decide to change to an iPad or iPhone then I'd recommend getting a cheap as chips talk and text phone and then get a full size iPad rather than both. IMHO the iPhones are ridiculously overpriced and with a talk and text only phone you can save yourself some $ to invest in an iPad with SIM card slot.

And make sure that you invest in a REALLY GOOD iPad cover to protect it, the screens crack so easily and repairs are really, really expensive.

So with an iPad, install FileApp (free app) so that you can save documents to your tablet which you can't do with the Apple native set-up unless you jailbreak your devices.... which is a really bad idea.

It depends on which email provider you use, but the Google apps are all must haves. There are Apple versions of word processing and spreadsheets but they are a little on the spendy side as far as apps go but Google Drive is one of the apps that you can try out for free.

Hope that helps too.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I've been spending this evening setting them up. My phone is pretty much done as far as what apps I want and I'm slowly figuring out what apps I want to have for my iPad since it's mostly for school. I have a case for my phone and I know what iPad case I want and where I need to go to get it, I just ran out of time today to get it
