ICYMI, we moved to my hometown at the beginning of November. I FB messaged a couple of ladies that I knew to see if they wanted to get together with our kiddos for a playdate. One woman in particular has two daughters that are around the same age as my daughter and a son that is 4 months older than my son. Perfect, right?!

She had told me that she would get a hold of me after Thanksgiving to set something up. CRICKETS. I waited until the beginning of January to follow up with her and see if she & her kids would be interested in getting together. We discussed places to meet up & dates... and then CRICKETS again. It's now March, and I haven't heard a word in two months.

Back in the day, e.g. until, like, a year ago, I would have freaked out and tried to psychoanalyze every interaction we'd had with each other to figure out why she was mad at me, asked our mutual friend what she thought the issue was, etc.

Yanno what?!

I'm just letting it go. We haven't seen each other in person since 2007 and only had a handful of conversations since then so I'm confident that I didn't do or say anything to offend her. She's either too busy, not interested, or both... and that is okay. I'm not going to follow up, and I'm not going to worry. Our mutual friend babysits her kids on Thursday nights and posted a photo to FB so it reminded me of the whole situation again.

*self high five*

I'm growing up, ladies. :p

Yay for you! Those are the kind of things that make me proud of myself these days too. I actually shocked my friends by 'breaking up' with my best friend recently. She was just not good for me and after I woke up to the fact I thought, "Am I really going to settle for this?"

Watch, now she'll message you again or something :D :D

You know, I think you deserve TWO high fives. I can identify with that so much. I think I've gotten a lot better too but I'd still have to fight the same tendency. I'm not good at peopling.

Sometimes people are just too busy and/or forgetful, no other issue other than that. Good job not assuming it was something to do with you.

Yay for you! Something similar happened to me recently... I mentally agonised for ages 'was it something I said/did/didn't do' and eventually concluded no... time to move on!

Good job! What brought you to the point where you could do that? Cuz that really is hard! Are you reading Brene Brown's?

Hugs. <3 I used to do the crazy analyzing but it was just more trouble than it was. It is what it is is my new motto lol

Yay for you! No sense in making up possible scenarios in your mind when you just don't know what the real deal is! =) I'm sure your kids don't want to wait THAT long for playdates all the time - moving on is the right thing to do! =)

Kudos to ya girl. I would've over-analyzed it myself, but am slowly learning to LET GO of similar situations I'm currently dealing with. (((high five)))
