Since my kids will still let me, I'm trying to coordinate their costumes this year. DD has mentioned wanting to be Dorothy but it's bothering me that the Tin Man and the Scarecrow would be 'missing' if I dressed her brother up as the Cowardly Lion. :p

My 11 year old is almost done with dressing up, but has decided that he wants to be a zombie this year. Sigh...I miss picking cute costumes for him.

My girls aren't very original this year. Cain wants to be the same thing as last year - a Samara like costume (from the ring). Chloe was a black cat last year and she wants to be a bengal cat this year lol. I think she'll either end up a cheeta or leopard.

Lucas is going to be a "mirror ninja" Lily at 13 still loves halloween - it's probably her favourite holiday - I'll let her dress up as long as she wants to. She is going as Jack Skellington (I personally.. kinda hate halloween haha)

I'm actually really excited for their costumes this year haha! Rian is going as Batgirl from the DC girls comics show and Lola is going as that Wonder Woman too. Then Brian stumbled upon a Max costume so Ollie's getting dressed up as Max from Where The Wild Things Are and I bought a shirt that has a Wild Thing on it that says "I'll eat you up I love you so". I'm excited!!

My 5 year old son wants to be Pikachu (from Pokemon) this year, which is fine by me because he already has a onesie to wear! I have this maternity t-shirt to co-ordinate with him:

I'm undecided whether to dress our twin 21 month old boys (twins... the possibilities are endless!) in some kind of Pokemonelated costumes, or as bees because they love to run around making buzzing sounds.

Jason is going to be a Roman soldier (a Centurion, to be exact, LOL). Ben wants to be a juggler but will probably end up going as a magician so people can tell what he is. Lauren wants to be a witch again. I keep thinking each year is going to be Jason's last one dressing up (he's in 7th grade this year), but he's still into it. That makes me happy. :)

in the past i've dressed the kids in outfits that coordinate together (e.g., last year they were the 10th doctor, 11th doctor, and rose tyler), but i think those days may be over. :crying: 5yo DD wants to be mulan, 8yo DS wants to be a ghostbuster, and 10yo DS wants to be an unnamed starfleet officer (he likes star trek but doesn't specifically want to be "captain kirk").

My daughter was Dorothy and my son the lion one year for Halloween. Didn't bother me at all. :p

The last few years I've heard, "I'm too old." So I'm sure they'll wait until last minute when nothing is available and ask me to "make" a costume. ha ha Not sure why they think I'm crafty and can just whip up something.

My son is 10 and is going to be a ghostbuster.
As for coordinating costumes, one of the cutest ones I ever saw was a little girl who dressed as Cruella Deville and her little brother was a dalmation.

Rachel is going as Rey from Star Wars. Her dog is going to be BB-8. Hoping to get some costume shots of them this weekend :)

We don't do Halloween, but my older girls want to go out and walk the neighborhood. I have no idea what my oldest is planning on being as she changes her mind almost daily. My middle is being Cass from Supernatural.
We plan on doing the Trunk or Treat at our church on post, but the youngest already said he's not dressing up. He hates costumes and things like that, so he'll wear his superhero shirt and be a superhero for the day.
Outside of that, that's about all we are doing. We usually have family movie night on Halloween.
As far as ideas.....
Mario Bros
Princess/Prince
Cat/Dog
I don't know, this isn't my strong area :D
I do like your idea of Dorothy and the lion from Wizard of Oz!

Would your son be Toto? That would be so cute! :)
J is going to be a fisherman... and he told me that this is last year where he will be "cute"... he wants to be scary next year. I did find an awesome leather Grease type jacket that had a skeleton ribcage shirt at Goodwill last weekend... so I hope I will still have some say next year. ;)

Lauren is 7, and starting last year she decided it was all scary costumes from then on. I would chalk it up to having 2 older brothers, but neither of them has ever been anything scary! She did break her rule long enough to consider being Dorothy for a few weeks, but when push came to shove she stuck with scary.

Carrie, I realize that it's my 'special' (annoying) OCD rearing its ugly head here. :p
Rebecca, part of the reason my daughter wants to be Dorothy is because she has a stuffed Beanie Boo dog that looks like Toto that she is excited to be able to carry around with her. :D

*swoons* Those Doctor Who costumes sound great! :)
Perhaps he could be a 'redshirt'? :P

I understand! I had a tin man and scarecrow many years ago so we roped the neighbors into providing a dorothy and lion. lol
Some of my favs from the past few years- flapper and gangsters, police woman and her prisoners, egyptian theme (we had cleopatra, a mummy, and a pharaoh), and the band KISS. I don't care so much about politically correct, but I always want something that everyone will recognize! They weren't sure about KISS, but they got such a great response from all the adults when we went trick or treating that they were happy they went with it

Toto was my first thought, too! I think that would be adorable.
Nicholas is going to be a zombie pirate. The neighbor girl was over and hadn't decided on her costume yet, but then thought it might be fun to be a girl zombie pirate. So even though I have an only child I might get matching costume fun!

Michael wants to be a pumpkin! :P
It will be his first time dressing up and it's all because they celebrate it at school. So, I am kind of excited though I don't do Halloween.

My 10 year old is going to be Wonder Women and my 12 year old is going to be Batgirl. We have most parts of their costumes, and are putting pieces together as we can.
In the past, we have done family costumes. We did Alice in Wonderland- Alice, Queen of Hearts, Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum, Mad Hatter, and Cheshire Cat. Star Wars- Ewok, Hans, Leia, Chewy, Storm Trooper, and C3PO.
Family costumes are so much fun!
