Hello!

I was wondering where everyone prints their books and pages when they use templates like Cindy's blocked templates or the pocket templates that don't seem to have much of a border around the edge. Do you have to alter all of your pages to add the bleed around the outside? Do things get cut off when printed? Thank you! :)

I don't alter the pocket templates I use. Some things to get cut off which I am OK with. I print through Shutterfly and Blurb mostly. I also use Persnickety Prints when printing single LOs but haven't done that in awhile.

I resize the template to 96% of 94% before I start scrapping. That way I always have a little bleed.

Here's an example.

I used one of Cindy's template from this pack.
https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/images/P/cschneider-getfestivenewyearseve-preview.jpg (https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/product.php?productid=38261&cat=972&page=1)

And I scrapped this layout:
As you can see... You can see a little more of the background paper than the template preview shows. It's because I resized everything but the background to 96%.

Oh! Do you ever use the two page templates? Just wondering if you have an example of that too. LOL! Thanks again!

When I print I also just shrink em all just a little because I scrap right to the edge but it's not as painful as it sounds :)

I also resize the design to leave bleeding. I don't like anything cut off.

I use the template at Blurb with a border around my layouts. Nothing is cut off and the border is where all the fingerprints are after looking through the book. It may not look as nice, but I'm okay with that if I don't have to worry about bleed.

I usually don't use 2 page templates. But if I do, I just resize them as well. I don't think I have an example for it. If I need to make a double page, I usally scrap 2 individual pages.

I was wondering about Blurb. I have only used Persnickety in the past. Do you find it pretty user friendly? I wouldn't mind a border around mine either. Then I would be sure to have nothing cut off.

I made myself an action that adds bleed space, so when I save the full size version it's automatically there and I don't have to think about it again.

Is there a 12x12 PSD template at Blurb? I see some for BookWright and Bookify?

Blurb is pretty user friendly except I don't use anything fancy there. I just go to the site and start a book, choose the bordered page style for the entire book, and then upload my layouts. I think there is something you can download and do a pdf on your computer, but I haven't tried that.

I'm on Cindy's team, so almost all my layouts are her templates. Lol I print individual pages at persnickety prints and they come out exactly as I upload them ( I don't alter them at all). I can't speak to printing them in a book, haven't done anything bound recently.

I don't do any bleed. Print single pages through persnickety prints and have never needed it.

Oh wow, really? Maybe I need to start printing individual pages again. LOL! I like the bound books but it seems like a hassle to alter every page to avoid having things cut off the edges. I used to print pages at Sam's club and things would get cut off there too. Thank you!

That's a fantastic idea!! I've been debating printing books rather than pages, so I'm keeping this idea just in case.

I don't usually print books, just individual pages through Persnickety and I've never noticed a problem with anything being cut off.
