I've been scrapping since 2006. Since that time I've lost both of my parents, two uncles, and an aunt. The "storytellers" are gone. It's made me realize how important it is to preserve my families memories so that someday my kids will have them. I wish my parents were here to ask questions, tell me things about my childhood, etc. I have no one to ask anymore and let's face it, the older I get, the more I can't remember, lol. I feel like scrapbooking will give future generations in our family the ability to see a snapshot of what our life was like.

Because I've been writing stories since I was old enough to read and hold a pencil. Scrapping is just a 'prettier' way to write stories. I'm 10x the storyteller than I am the scrapper. Using photos with my stories makes it more likely that someone will read them than without.

Besides that, it's just part of who I am. I've been digitally scrapping for 15 years. That's my entire adult life. It's just what I do after a long day to unwind and be creative.

To be honest, dementia runs in my family and I make the scrapbooks so that I will remember when I've forgotten.

My memory stinks--if I don't write it down, there's a good chance I'll forget it. When my oldest (who's now 14!) was a few months old, I wanted a way to combine my stories about him with the photos that illustrated my memories. I knew that I'd be terrible at telling my kids about the funny things they did and said if it wasn't all written down. And to be honest, I'm much more a writer than a speaker--I always have been. So I guess I got into scrapbooking for the storytelling, and I stayed for a combination of that and the gorgeous supplies.

It's important to me to have a record of our family. The good times and the bad, so my kids can look back when they're older and can share it with their kids.

I am with the rememberers. I scrapbook to remember...how I felt, what I experienced, how I loved. Plus I love all the colors and patterns. Scrapbooking fills so many needs for me.

I love putting my memories into book form. There is no point taking pictures if you don't look at them, so I put them into scrapbooks. I do miss physical scrapping, but the paper and embellishments were taking over my craft space, my kid was running of with my stuff and digi scrapping is just so much tidier, and easier. Also a lot more cost effective as I can reuse kits again and again.

I stay motivated by the fact that no one else can tell my story and I don't want my kids to end up not remembering mine or theirs. Perhaps a bit pessimistic, but we don't know what could happen tomorrow. So I make layouts with memories, advice for my kids, moments from my youth and our life together.
