I know I posted this at DST but I wanted to share it here, too! Who doesn't love a good baby photo right? :p
Hi girls! It has been such a rough week here and I've barely had a second to update or catch my breath! My sister posted that the OB had decided to deliver Parker early due to my blood pressure getting out of control. He joined us Sunday morning and was promptly taken to NICU for blood sugar issues....I was devastated and deflated, because this was exactly what had happened with Naomi. As a matter of fact, it was a strange deja vu like experience all the way around because he was in the same isolette as she was, had the same nurses, and incidentally....they look practically identical too!
Here are a few pictures of Parker from his isolette: (the white thing in the first picture is his splinted IV site)

And for comparison, here was Naomi:

I was just so upset because I wanted to nurse my baby, to cuddle him and have him with me...and no one wants to see their child poked and prodded and the like :(
We have been using an SNS (supplemental nursing system) to keep his blood sugars up until my milk comes in and David and I are getting pretty proficient at feeding him from the 13 tiny syringes! Today they let him come to our room though we have to continue supplementing with the SNS until my milk comes in...but no more heel pricks or labwork...and no more IV's! :clap
We could use some positive thoughts though, because they have tried twice for him to pass his hearing test and his left ear has failed twice. So let's hope it's a fluke and that he has no hearing loss...but rather just some fluid in his ear or another reasonable explanation...which is a possibility.
He is such a sweet, laidback baby. He has been such a trooper about everything and is just the most tolerant baby I've ever been around! Here are some pictures from our hospital photo shoot today...it breaks my heart to see the red marks on his hands and arms from the IV and the marks all over his feet from the heel pricks...but that's what he looks like and I want to remember him just how he was, so I didn't want any editing of it! I could share about 20 pictures but these are my favorites:

If all goes well we will get to go home on Thursday which is wonderful because I miss Naomi so much (she's still with Aunt Tabatha and enjoying playing with her cousins)! Nathan has been able to come up and see Parker which has been very nice! Just like any delivery, I just can't wait for everything to calm down and get back to "normal". Our family is going through a lot right now on many fronts so if you can spare any positive thoughts we'd sure appreciate it :)
