View Full Version : A Baby Book???

So my husband's older daughter had her first child. Her mom wasn't much help in helping her choose things for her registry or with a shower so I suspect she doesn't have a baby book. Do they even do baby books any more?
But DH wants to give her a scrapbook of the pictures she's been sending to him for her Xmas gift. I had the idea to make some blank pages that would be similar to a baby book that she could fill in since I don't know all the details myself.
I know things like birth weight, dob, length and time. What are some other fields I could put on a page or two for it??
Thanks in advance

I have 3 different baby books. I can look at them tomorrow and let you know what else is in there.
I know there is a page about daddy and a page about mommy
then another about how mommy and daddy met.
how the baby's name was picked and what other names were considered
doctor visits
teeth
first everything: sitting, crawling, standing, walking, words, solid foods...
is that what you're looking for?

I had "calendar" baby books for my girls. That let me put milestones in a calendar setting so I knew dates things happened. Maybe something along those lines?
I know there are some Baby kits in the store, maybe purchase a couple of those and let them speak to you as far as things you can do for pages?
I would imagine any 1sts you would want to include. Maybe a page for the birth story, where she can write in what happened etc.
Good luck, and congratulations!

I just grabbed my son's babybook for a few more ideas -
A family tree with full names (back to great-grandparents).
Story of your grandparents
Getting ready for your birth - how & who we told we were expecting
Your nursery
Baby showers
Birth story
Your name - its meaning - why we chose it - other names we considered
What was going on in the world around the time you were born - price of gas, stamp price, movies, music, TV
First family picture
A Day in the Life of You (what you ate, when you got up, napped, what you played with, bedtime routine or stories, favorite lovie)
Growth chart
First christmas or other holidays
First birthday

if you go to Pinterest and search baby book ideas you can get a ton of awesome ideas too. What a fun gift to give too...a personalized book is such a sweet idea. <3

I second the calendar idea! I had baby book style calendars for the twins that I was given, with prompts and places to write info in for the baby milestones on the top page for recording and a blank calendar grid below to fill in for the appropriate month once they came along and I knew where to start the monthly pages. They are around somewhere in a box, but of course not in the places I'm looking right now or I would show you a picture. There are some on Amazon that would be similar - search 'baby's first year calendar' or 'baby book calendar'.
Since I was a well established scrapbooker by the time they came along, I used it more as a place to record things quickly in the moment and grab the details for the actual scrapbook pages as I made them later. For someone not into scrapbooking the calendar itself might be enough.

I completed it this weekend. DH had some pics she's sent so I scrapped those pages and then made about 6 pages of baby book style so that she can fill them in.
Thank you all for helping.
I'll try to remember to share a page or two.
