Has anyone ever been to one of these? I'm invited to one on Friday, and I think it's a cool idea but I have no idea what to take!
This is the idea:
Each person brings 4 of the same item, wrapped. Max $15 value. 1 of the items goes on the grand prize table for one person to win, and the other 3 get names drawn and that person 'wins' it - everyone goes home with 3 different favorite things, and one person goes home with one of everything.
I keep thinking of food items I could make but then I think people might not like that, so looking for cool ideas for the 4 gifts I need to take.

I have never heard of it before, but what a fun idea. If you are thinking of food items, instead of actually making the food, make a basket up with the ingredients and a recipe card. That way they can make it at a later date.
Other ideas could be a favorite cookbook, favorite lotion or other beauty item, favorite kitchen gadget that you like to use, favorite book, something in your favorite color, a fun nightshirt or your favorite slippers. Personally that is the one I would do because I have a pair of slippers that I keep buying over and over again twice a year. LOL

Oh, how neat! I would probably do a bottle of wine with a cool wine stopper.

This sounds really fun and I've never heard of it.
Yeah I would probably bring in some treats from a French bakery or local chocolate place.
I'm not a collector of things so I don't like people buying things for me that will end up in the donation pile later. And I'm very picky about what I put on my skin so I wouldn't like lotion or lipstick and whatnot.
It's hard! And it needs to be $15 max per item or the 4 items? because that limits what it could be for just $5 a piece.

I agree about receiving things that are not "me". When I used to go to scrapping retreats, I opted out of the goodie bags after awhile. How many chapsticks can a person have when they never use it? And, after I started digi-scrapping, I had no need for the items received that were for traditional scrapping. I also can't handle scented products so those immediately were given away. Thus I just started opting out. I also opted out of the Secret Santa at work. Why have someone waste their money on me when more than likely the item would not be appreciated...

$15 each, not $15 total - that would be a lot harder!

Oh ok! That gives a bit more wiggle room for ideas!
One year I gifted a coloring book for adults at a secret santa party and everybody was trying to get it for themselves but that trend might have passed.

GC to Starbucks or Timmies
I like the small gadget idea, a cell phone holder for hands free reading (I have one that I use at the kitchen counter when I'm reading and eating, so don't have to hold it as I eat).

Since it's supposed to be YOUR favorite things, I wouldn't overthink it too much. If YOU like a certain wine or lotion or candle or gadget - go for it. The recipient can always regift it if it's not their fave. I do like the kitchen gadget idea, though. Or something for winter like your fave tea or coffee or a gift card for that.

Timmies definitely is one of my favourite things lol Steeped Tea all the way! :)
So I decided on shots :D For part of it anyways. Rum Chata and Fireball - I got the 'airplane size' of each to put in there, and then a bag of 'Twigs' pretzels. They're divine - they taste like Dot's pretzels in the US, if you've had those. Then I might do the Timmies card to make up the $15 ... because that definitely is a favourite!

Yes, that microwave Hot Mama is the best. It totally works. My husband was even bragging it up at work the other day. lol
Dot's pretzels! Being from ND (where they are made), I love hearing people mention them.

They're very very good, and very very addicting! Twigs are our copycat version - not quite as good but it's what we got so I'll run with it :)
