I read through the "Am I the only one?" thread that asks, "do you outsource your printing?"

For everyone that prints at an office supply or Kinkos, do you give any special instructions to the person behind the counter?

What type of paper do you have them print on? and
what is the output type... color laser print?
Also, is there a problem doing an oversized print (other than 8.5x11)?

I usually feel overwhelmed when I go into Kinkos when it comes to papers. I just completed 2 altered clipboards for presents. I printed them from my printer and used a spray sealer then did a water test on them. Just put one drop of water on the a scrap and it bled pretty quickly. Mod pod just scares me to use. :) I'd probably scream if it caused running on the page. I need to come up with an alternative to my printer.

Thanks

Nicki

I haven't outsourced or used anyone else yet.

But for your cliboards, you probably needed another coat or two of the spray sealer. Also, it's best to let your printed things sit for a while (sometimes an hour, sometimes a day, depends on your printer and paper). The drier it is, the less likely it is to run.

for Kinkos, have your file in PDF format. They will charge you extra to convert it into PDF. At least that is how the Kindos here is.

Thanks I'm going to try a 3rd coat. Can you believe it ran with 2 coats of sealer. I didn't think it would do it that quickly. Who knows?.. could be my printer its kind of old.

See just goes to show you. PDF.. I never would have thought to do that, but it makes sense.

I was super scared to use the mod podge too but I tryed and and it worked great you just have to make sure the ink is dry.

I've used Office Depot a lot. I just take them jpgs and have them printed on cardstock with their color laser printer. I love the quality!
