Hi,

I would like to make a photobook on a website like shutterfly, mypublisher, etc. but I don't want to use their layouts. Is there a way I can upload my scrapbook layouts? Has anyone done this and what websites would let you do that? I would like to make an 8x8 book for a father's day gift if that is possible.

Thank you for any help you can give me :)

You can do that with Shutterfly. You choose the full bleed page option and put your own layout there. (that's from the top of my head)

Don't have stuff close to edges. You'll also lose stuff in the inner binding. Turn off Vivid Pix.

I don't see where you can select the full bleed page option :(

it's under Pages tab. On the left are different layout styles. Choose the one that is the entire square grayed out. It should be completely gray with no text lines.

I'm the worst at explaining stuff. I'm trying to find a tut for you.

I just had a photobook printed off by Shutterfly using my scrapbook layouts and it turned out FANTASTIC!! I was so pleased with the quality of the pages. The good thing about it, is that if you are going to have some of your page cut off the sides, you can see it in the preview and change your LO a bit. The cover (which you can do as a layout) gets cropped more than the regular pages for some reason, but it still turned out so great.
Here's how I got my pages on there...

I make them in 12x12 at 300 then I just saved them as a jpeg in irfanview (free on the web). Then I simply uploaded them to the shutterfly site and drag/dropped them onto each page.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. :)

You can also try out Viovio.com.... they have better prices than Shutterfly but the site is VERY confusing! Good luck! I love my photo books!

somewhere on Shutterfly there is a link that says something like digital scrapbookers.. that's where you'll find all the full bleed stuff.

When you click on the Shutterfly Store tab at the top of the site there is a "Shop By" option in light orange right underneath it. Choose "Solutions" from there and if you scroll down you will see a Digital Scrapbookers section. Just choose the size from there of the book you want to make and it will take you right into the setup of it.

I just ordered one this week so I remembered where it was:)

Thanks for all the help. I am having a really hard to getting my layouts uploaded on to Shutterfly. Is this normal on this website or should I just try again? I also looked at viovio.com and was wondering if you could see the completed book before ordering? For those that have used both shutterfly and viovio, which do you like best?

Thanks again for all the help :)

what are you using browser-wise? Firefox or IE? I cannot upload to Shuttferfly using Firefox; I have to open up Internet Explorer () to upload.

Hmmm, I've never had any trouble uploading with shutterfly! They are usually pretty easy!

With viovio, they create a pdf preview of your book for you to look at, but it's not quite like shutterfly's previews. But, I found 5+ problems in my layouts after I checked out the preview (my fault).

You can check out my review on Viovio here (http://sarahsdigiscraps.blogspot.com/2008/04/my-viovioeview.html)! (with a little comparison to shutterfly!)

Personally, I was not happy with my Shutterfly book. It did not print well. Some of my pages turned out fuzzy and grainy, even though my pages were hies, 300 ppi, high quality JPEGs. The same files printed just fine at Costco, so it wasn't my files... their printing just was bad on my book...

oh that stinks. did you contact Shutterfly? From what I've heard their CS is pretty good and they will try to make things right for you.

I did contact them and they offered me another photo book, BUT they said that my pages were the problem and NOT their printing. They said I needed to re-upload "fixed" pages. My pages weren't the problem though so I decided not to pay the shipping on another book if it was going to print the same... :( I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to re upload pages, blah blah blah....

This is the link to their digi scrap blog: http://shutterfly.typepad.com/digiscrap

I've had two books done, and I didn't know about the Vivid pics, so I wasn't very happy with the colors on them, but I'm planning on doing another one soon with my newfound knowledge.
