This is a little embarrassing to ask as it reflects my lack of income at times. I was thinking about DSD coming up and had a thought on how to make sure I've got $$ without blowing my budget for that week.

I was thinking that I could purchase a gift card or two so when the weekend comes I will have them to spend. My question (s) that follow are
1. Is that even a good idea
2. Can I purchase one card and then just add $ to it or will I need to purchase each one separate
3. Will I be able to redeem more than one gift card in one transaction if I have to purchase more than one
4. When using the gift card will it affect any discounts or SSD Collabs (like spend $20 get blah free etc)

This may be a lame idea, but if I just put $$ aside I know I'll end up using it and then be mad that I can't get anything that weekend. Is there anything else I need to know about the gift cards before I do this?

I appreciate any input from y'all- just please don't judge inability to put money aside the grown up way. Lol

*when is dsd weekend?

Hey Ashley!

If you're on a budget and worried you'll spend it before DSD, I think a GC is a great idea! Here's where you can purchase GCs in the shoppe...

https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/giftcert.php

Unfortunately, I dont think there's a way to reload funds onto an existing card, but you should be able to redeem more than one GC in a single transaction because they are entered at checkout during the payment method step of the transaction and because they are a payment method and not a coupon, they do not have any effect on any other discounts or promotions that are going on in the store.

DSD is October 7th this year and we're already working on a GORGEOUS team mega-collab! Cant wait to show it to you guys <3

Hope the info helps <3

A gift card is a great idea! No judgement here. Hubby and I budget an "allowance" for each other each month. I made a seperate account (a different share but still in our main bank account, we use a credit union). I put my cash in that account and can spend on whatever I want no questions asked...I use mine to buy way too many kits or books! :)

GC is an awesome idea and it's one I've done before when I've been on a budget before.

I think a gift card is a fantastic idea and a wonderful way to treat yourself. No judgment here about putting money away the grown-up way.....sometimes I'm like 'oooh shiny, must have' rather continuing to save for what I want ;)

My birthday is Nov 27th, which is usually near Black Friday. My sister gets me a gift card to SSD every year before Black Friday so I can spend it on me (she knows if I had a gift card somewhere else I'd likely buy something for someone else).

I love your idea! It's just a method of payment in the store, so you get all the discounts and bonuses, it's a perfect idea!

I've done that before, although I haven't done it here. It's a great idea!

A GC is pretty much the only way I have spending money (my last ones have come from an amazing friend who gives them to me so that I do have spending money here). They can be used in connection with sales, FWP etc since they are a form of money/currency and not a coupon code. You CAN even use coupon codes with them also. So lots of ways to combine and save money!

I think it's a great idea!!! Excited for some shopping coming up!

Such a smart idea! It’s no different than putting money in envelopes for different budget categories - you’re just creating a digital envelope for your SSD shopping.

I think it's a great idea--I've bought Visa gift cards many times to keep myself on track so that I didn't just mindlessly take the money from my bank account during big sales or to budget "fun" money over a few months!

I think gift cards are a great idea and one that I will probably start using since I'm also on a tight budget and afraid of overspending when I see a kit that I like. Knowing that I can combine it with a coupon code or still get fwp makes it even sweeter!
