My hubby is home!!! I know a lot of you asked in that other thread (which I can't remember which one it was), but he is home as of last night and healing - MUCH better at home.

He ended up being in hospital 2 weeks total, and has to go back for a small (day surgery) procedure, but we are glad to have him home and recovering.

I told him it's his turn to mow the lawn (lol!) - the grass probably won't need cutting again until May, so I think he'll be able to handle it

Hugs to you, Trina. It must've been an exhausting fortnight for you. Take time to rest. :)

SO glad he's home. (And total LOL at the mow-the-grass comment. I know I'd joke about the same thing!)

I totally missed this about your husband. I’m glad he’s home. Why was he in the hospital?

I totally missed this about your husband. I?m glad he?s home. Why was he in the hospital?

Long story lol Late 2021 he lost 50 lbs in 2 months without trying and he found out he had a fistula (hole) between his stomach and bowel - what he ate was literally coming out within 30 min. They put him on a feeding tube for 3 months to get him to a point where he could survive surgery, and April 2022 he had surgery to remove part of his colon and fix the hole.

Everything was great and he felt good til December when his symptoms started again - he waited months to get back in to surgeon and started dropping weight like crazy again and they found 2 holes in his stomach this year. This all got complicated because he got a DVT (blood clot) in his leg over August long weekend so surgery had to wait to make sure it was safe, but he ended up being hospitalized Aug 28 because he couldn't stop throwing up (and what he was throwing up was fecal matter, not food...)

He finally had surgery Sept 1 to fix the holes and remove more of his colon. It was supposed to be about 4-5 hours and ended up being 7.5 hours in surgery, the dr said his stomach was in terrible shape and took a long time to put back together (he's guessing it's ulcers that caused it). So they're being super cautious but luckily he didn't end up with an ostomy/bag, and he didn't end up losing his stomach completely, which was another possible outcome. We're lucky. His BP dropped after surgery to like 80/50 so the first few days were scary, but the blood helped and he's back on his feet.

It's been a long couple of years!!

Wow, Trina, that is intense and scary. I'm glad he's home, and I hope having his stomach put back together will fix the problem. It's amazing how important the gut is to health.

Yes! And nutrition! lol When all those vitamins and minerals get really off base it affects everything. Last year when he had the feeding tube he was in hospital a week to make sure his body could regulate the nutrition after not having it so long. It's a good thing, too, because his potassium spiked and caused a mini heart attack. Glad this is all in the past!

Thanks ladies!!! He/we are doing much better. His Short Term Disability was just approved so that’s a relief too, he can recover a couple more weeks and not worry about bills and just get better. Hopefully he’ll be back to work Oct 3!
