We left Pace at 9:00 a.m., headed to Rome, Georgia, to pick up Judy from her sister’s house, where she had been staying since June 8, 2026. Throughout the week and weekend, much of the southeastern United States had been battered by thunderstorms and severe weather. Along our route, rain and wind came and went, causing traffic delays from accidents and construction zones. Thankfully, we weren’t in a hurry. Instead, we slowed down, took in the scenery, and enjoyed the journey. The hours on the road gave us an opportunity to talk about things we don't always make time for in our daily routines—our relationship, dreams for the future, and changes we'd like to make both individually and as a couple. Although we spend time together every day, uninterrupted conversations like these are rare and precious. We're already looking forward to making the journey again.
