cindys732003 02-04-2011 09:15 AM

Thanks for the update Yari! Glad you took him in and got some antibiotics for him, hopefully it will clear it all up. Hugs! That must have been scary!

sprauncey1 02-04-2011 09:22 AM

Praying for you all! Nothing like an emergency doctor's visit to make your heart pound! Hoping he is OK and that the antibiotics will take care of it!

deepounds 02-04-2011 09:39 AM

Sending lots of P&PT, Yari . . . it's extra scary when it's a little one having something scary like this going on. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear it up quickly & it will turn out to be nothing serious. ((hugs))

Davita 02-04-2011 09:59 AM

Sending lots of prayers for your little man. I hope things are better today and that he is on the road to recovery.

You are a great Mom for getting him there so quickly. I hope the antibiotics work fast and that everything turns out okay.

ayaandjudah 02-04-2011 10:55 AM

I'm just now seeing this. How scary!! Way to stay calm and get him right to the doctor! I hope that you get some answers very soon and you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

yari 02-04-2011 03:29 PM

Thank you all so very much!!!!!!! This morning his urine was dark brown. He just went potty again and it was COMPLETELY CLEAR!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen more beautiful urine in my life! LOL! We sure appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers so very much...Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I still haven't heard back from the doctor but I think I'm going to call in.

Yesterday while we were waiting for the laboratory, they told me it was going to be a long time before they see us because they needed to see the emergency patients first. I told them them that the doctor's lab orders said ASAP on it and then I showed them the cup...

They saw us pretty quickly after that. Thank goodness.

Again, thank you all so very, very, very much. <3

becca1976 02-05-2011 05:18 AM

OH my goodness Yari...I would have totally flipped out! I'm guessing the clear urine is a good sign but I'll continue to pray that the doctor gives a positive report!

Yari, I'm seeing this just now. That's scary!! Hope everything is ok. Is he feeling better?
xo

yari 02-05-2011 11:54 AM

Thank you so much everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers. Yesterday they called us and they said that the blood results were normal (yayyyy for that!!!), the ultrasound showed a swollen spot in one of his kidneys (I'm not sure what that means?) and we are still waiting on the results from the urine culture. They said to keep giving him the medicine so that's what we're doing. Thank you all again. I'll keep you posted. I have a lot of questions and hopefully they'll be answered.

Nonna2Dreja 02-05-2011 08:27 PM

How very scary! Gosh that certainly would have had me upset too! Glad your son has an antibiotic to take and praying that everything will be fine....

jessica31876 02-05-2011 08:31 PM

I wasnt sure when you said he had blood in the toilet which one you meant 1 or 2. I have had plenty of UTI's and they are not fun at all. Did he have any signifigant pain? I know I always do but my neice had one and also had a kidney stone at the same time...she had no pain with either.

carrie1977 02-05-2011 08:37 PM

OMGosh...that is so scary Yari! Hopefully the urine culture will come back normal, too. Hang in there!!

Jessica, I ask him if anything hurts and he always says no. I'm not sure if that's the case because since he has been "holding" his pants when he walks. Hopefully they will give me some more answers today. Fingers crossed.

yari 02-08-2011 06:11 PM

OK so here's the answers they gave me:

He does not have an infection and to stop the antibiotics immediately.
He has a swelling where the ureter meets with the kidney and they don't know what that is but it may be viral, there is a virus that causes that.
Blood work and urine culture shows everything's normal.
They will do an ultrasound in 2 months to see if it has gone away.
If it happens again, bring him back in.

I feel like I need a second opinion from his actual doctor. The doctor that saw him for this was a different one that was available at the time. Basically they don't really know what it is and we just have to keep on eye on him.

Now he is complaining of "sprinkles in his [private part]" and that it hurts. I am thinking it's kidney stones or something like that. Any ideas anyone? I'm going nuts trying to figure this one out.

BrattyMeg 02-08-2011 06:15 PM

Stones shoulda showed up on the ultrasound though...

has he been nauseated at all? If not chances are it's not kidney stones

He was on Saturday morning.

scrapperjade 02-08-2011 06:46 PM

It never hurts to have a second opinion. I would take that picture and go see your regular doctor, as he knows your son's medical history. Obviously they won't be able to re-test the urine you collected, but he will be able to see that it wasn't just a drop of blood in there or something.

Hope you get it figured out! It's so scary when something is wrong with our kids!!
