Coronavirus Kit?

I know it's not funny to those who know people who have gotten sick. But the memes going around about the virus are hysterical! Is someone going to make a kit?

Pandemic, quarantine, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, schools closed, church canceled, sports canceled, shows and performances cancelled.

I can't find all the best memes I've seen, but here's a few. Hey, when all else fails, laugh! I'd LOVE a kit to remember all that's going on here! I could see Erika having a blast with this given her sense of humor!

This isn’t a meme yet...that I know of. But a friend (who is a guy) shares this boy of word wisdom:

Coronavirus, it’s like a cold...but when a man gets it!

I'd love to see a coronavirus kit lol

I'm in Ohio and our kids just got put on a mandatory 3 week "spring break"....which could be longer than 3 weeks. I always find it important though to document issues going on in present time for my daughter's scrapbook.

erica zane 03-13-2020 06:41 PM

So many memes out there!

I could totally see Erica Zane rocking a covid-19 kit! I'd get it to help document everything happening!

LynnZant 03-13-2020 09:06 PM

Thanks for the chuckle! I've laughed my way through some pretty tough times, so this thread is great!

brittbree 03-13-2020 09:16 PM

So far my daughter school is still open. But back home in Louisiana every school is closed for a month..

cherrygutz 03-13-2020 09:27 PM

Bahahaha! I'm gonna add those memes on my project life now!

Kiana 03-13-2020 10:22 PM

I don't know about a kit, but this is my fave so far

I was just wondering today if anyone had scrapped it already. I'm waiting to see how it turns out once it's not ruining my life anymore. The president (of the Philippines, where I live) has cancelled all domestic travel: land, sea & air, so we couldn't travel to the capital to get our passports renewed like we'd planned. But I should probably jot down my initial thoughts and reactions now while it's still fresh.

allyanne 03-14-2020 10:12 AM

I've made a page about it already, and I've been talking about it on my PL pages. I will probably scrap some more about it, but I do agree that we need a snarky kit about it.

A kit about a pandemic would be good because it's affecting so many people worldwide and we all have a story about the covid-19 virus that we can scrap about...esp no TP !!

So many fun possibilities for elements! Toilet paper rolls, carts overflowing with toilet paper, little flowers made out of the virus (that fun little circle with the prongs sticking out that they put on every news headline these days). All the funny, snarky memes. I know it's not really a laughing matter, but I'm prone to gallows humor even at the best of times--totally how I cope with this kind of stuff.

littlekiwi 03-14-2020 11:25 AM

I have seen a set of freebie cards about this (admittedly from an Australian point of view) on IG from the username wilsonwilsonorg for a limited time (I’m not linking cause I don’t want to get in trouble with Robin etc)

The worldwide tp shortage is really amusing me, I thought it was just over here in the UK until I read stories on fb :D:D

I love this one:

aussiegirl 03-14-2020 12:03 PM

My favorite is "I'm not shaking your hand because of coronavirus, but because all the toilet paper is gone"

I think a kit would be a great idea! This is definitely something we need to scrap for future generations!

crazsquaw 03-14-2020 01:27 PM

This kit idea is AWESOME and I think it would probably sell well!

I do think that it would be good if there were serious parts about it too- like word arts saying things about the people who are immuno-compromised or elderly, and how they are in danger from the virus (not enough coffee yet to word what I am trying to say LOL) Also something about the medical professionals.
The shopping carts, tp, hand sanitizer, empty shelves, face masks, maybe some hands alone & also with some germs on them? Add a note that you see on the doors of the closed businesses, the list could go on!

cooperL788 03-14-2020 01:44 PM

Yes to a kit about Pandemic or COVID-19! Having specific elements to add to Project Life and even to add a themed page of our "extra" time together at home would be awesome.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

msbamf2you 03-14-2020 08:24 PM

Guess it would be funnier if my life wasn't being destroyed by the fear of this virus.

What a tone deaf idea for a scrapkit.

ETA: what in the fuck.

Sherri Tierney 03-14-2020 10:33 PM

I actually popped in to see if anyone had done a kit this week! I think that all things are important to scrap and this is definitely one worth noting in the memory books! I'm not big on the memes (or memes in general... they kinda annoy me) but definitely some pandemic/quarantine/social distance word art would be great.

Our schools are not closing at this time (and won't unless there is a mandate to close by the health department or the state) but we have been informed that next week the students need to remain 6 feet from one another. I don't know how this will work with little kids. They have to eat meals in their classrooms because we can't have more than 30 in a room at once, etc. The next 4 days (since we have a week of spring break after) will be crazy and I full intend to document it for future generations.

jacinda 03-14-2020 11:23 PM

Mystie I'm sorry you don't feel like this is a good idea for a scrap kit. We ALL understand how serious COVID-19 is. ALL of our lives are being impacted in some way or another, and we all deal with it differently. Many of us are worried, but that doesn't stop us appreciating the humorous memes that are out there. It doesn't lessen the seriousness of the situation, but like they say, you can choose to laugh or choose to cry about a situation. Some choose to laugh, but mean no disrespect to those who are being affected. This situation is history in the making. Having a scrap kit to document something that is so huge right now just makes sense. We are scrapbookers. We are family historians. If it's happening, we want to document it so future generations know what happened and how it affected us.

I'm truly sorry to hear this whole COVID-19 situation is affecting you so severely, and send prayers and positive thoughts your way, that things will look up soon.

rach3975 03-14-2020 11:30 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few Covid-19 kits, some snarky and meme based and some more serious. I'll buy!

Unless your classrooms are a heck of a lot bigger than ours, is that even physically possible? And even if it is, I'm with you on the chances of kids that young actually keeping their distance from each other. What a crazy time!

Saar 03-15-2020 04:47 AM

I would love a kit as well.
My life is turned upside down at the moment due to the virus.
I'm not infected, but I work for the communication department of our local government. My country is in a sort of a lock down at the moment. We've been communicating with our citizens ever since.

it's everywhere and it's crazy....why TP, why ?!?!? I really have no clue because there is still plenty in storage but as soon as it is in the store...it's gone.

knittingbec 03-15-2020 08:28 AM

While the virus itself is, of course, not a laughing matter, it's almost impossible not to be baffled by some of the reactions. The other moms & I here--facing huge decisions (IF the decision isn't made for us) that are going to lead most us to be separated from our spouses & our kids from one of their parents for 4-6 months--definitely find comfort when we can find the humor.
I would love to have a kit that I could use to show how we're processing the emotions, observing the reactions, and dealing with changes we're experiencing at this moment in history.

We have small class sizes (20 and under) right now so that helps. I just don't know how this will work. The administration is adamant and feel good about their decision. We are more on the rural side in a small town. We (staff) are being asked to let the health department know if we travel across straight lines. This is kind of funny actually as we have several teachers who live across state lines. I don't know if they will ask them to stay in town or let them continue to commute if a case hasn't been reported in either area.

Hugs. We are also struggling with it too. I'm trying to diffuse the stress with humor, but it definitely is something we are keeping close tabs on and worrying for the health of our loved ones. We also struggle with the dismissive attitude of many over our very legitimate concerns. Sending you hugs (I'm also from Indiana)!

Maybe a kit/collection would need 2 sides, light-hearted and serious? I know I will scrapbook about this at some point but it likely won't be until we are on the other side of whatever this is.

Amanda and I made a blog freebie about the pandemic, only not with Memes, flowers or other happy stuff since that didn't really felt right to do. You can use those if you want from other kits.

But there are a lot of wordbits, some themed doodles, papers and cards to document this scary moment
