Being at home is costing me more. . . .

sooooo...........as some of you may know I redid my little bedroom into my nest (office, but I prefer nest). Repainted old bookcases, put up pretty white embroidered curtains, found a small harvest table painted white with distressing and scored a solid oak vintage office chair that spins and leans back (oh so comfortable). It is perfect, light and airy, everything I wanted it to be. I have been watching Netflix on my old (as in first gen) iPad mini which is fine but thought eventually I would like a small TV in here and I can use it as a larger monitor for my laptop. My goal is to have a desktop in here from Black Friday shopping deal.

I need to not be bored...........made a mistake by going on the Best Buy website and checking out the sales. There is now a 32" smart TV on it's way *sigh*. I justified by figuring I wouldn't need any spring clothes as I'm not going anywhere this month.

Your little bedroom sounds like such a nice nest (a little bit jealous here ! :)). A 32" smart tv isn't that bad......esp when it was on sale :) I think we all need to spoil ourselves from time to time :)

I totally agree with you...it's not just the ordering online for me (way too convenient!) but also the grocery shopping. With a teen & husband at home....I can't keep the groceries stocked. I put it away and it's gone the minute I turn around.

Neverland Scraps 04-06-2020 12:21 PM

that sounds like a nice haven, something we all need right about now!

I understand the online shopping. They are making this too easy
Do we get to see a photo of your nest??

sure!! I have a guest bedroom all set up :) I'll move the new tv in there for you when it arrives, lol.

Very pretty Jaye! Enjoy your new space!

I spent a lot of money on lighter clothes in preparation for our trip to Mexico (that got cancelled) since I lost weight and none of my old clothes fit me. So I am trying to be good and not spend money here. I have been scrapping more and spending more on that though!

bcgal00 04-06-2020 02:09 PM

Nice setup. It's nice to have the sun coming thru that window, nice and welcoming space you created.

Saar 04-06-2020 02:09 PM

Wow that looks amazing Jaye!

cherrygutz 04-06-2020 02:14 PM

That sure looks cozy!

Leablahblah 04-06-2020 02:41 PM

It does look cozy! Your vintage chair looks really cool.
Enjoy the new tv! It is very easy to go shopping online and end up with tons of things that weren't on the list.

SweetChar 04-06-2020 03:27 PM

Very pleasant looking room! You've been very productive!

Sherri Tierney 04-06-2020 05:00 PM

Very nice!

I always spend more when I'm at home. I am trying SO hard not to right now. I have been buying more than I usually do, but I have bought gloves and masks and that sort of thing. I've also bought some worming meds for the animals before they are pulled from the shelves. An article came out saying that this particular thing has been found to kill Covid in labs and they are afraid people will try to treat themselves with animal de-wormer. Crazy world.

Anyway, I want to order paint. I need to see if I should after I look over the budget again. Its a good time to repaint the whole house.

StacyLynn 04-06-2020 05:27 PM

Your little nest looks adorable!

I am also keeping busy doing stuff.... my child care little playroom is almost done being painted (I need another gallon but Lowe's was out!!) Tomorrow I am going stain my oak book cases for the playroom (my hubby made them for our kiddies playroom 20 years ago, but they have been in our bedroom for the last 8 years.) We are going to hang some white wall shelving for toys and books, then I can get rid of (and by get rid of, i mean move to shed or garage and save for the daughter, teacher in training, or another project in the future...hehehe) some of the free standing toy shelves so we have more room to play.

LynnZant 04-06-2020 06:39 PM

Awesome room! Enjoy the TV too! I say "go for it" for stuff you want--you never know what's around the corner, so have fun right now.

joelsgirl 04-06-2020 07:04 PM

It's so cute!

I wanted to paint our living room while we were quarantined, but the hardware stores became "non-essential" before I could decide on a color. : (

Since I am still working I find that I am on my "personal computer" less and thus not much shopping. I would love to use this time for cleaning/organizing but I am getting paid to work so for 8 hours I sit on my makeshift desk and work.

Then after "leaving" work I don't want any part of computer.

That desk is so pretty and I love that bookcase.

Oh pooh. Just saw you were in Canada. I can't travel out of country :(

SeattleSheri 04-06-2020 08:50 PM

In my books, no justification needed! I'm glad you got a good deal. I'm actually saving money right now. I normally pay about $20/day to park (plus gas) and another $10 for food when I'm going into the office, so working from home has its perks! I'm also not spending money on beauty products/services (make up, salon, etc) and I'm not one iota concerned about buying new clothes.

Enjoy your refreshed space!

jaye 04-06-2020 08:55 PM

Thank you everyone, my little space makes me happy :).

Yes, Wendy I’m in Canada, sorry.

MamaBee 04-06-2020 08:58 PM

Love your little nook! So peaceful!

Apparently I'm ordering more stuff online? That is what my hubby says... haha. It's because everything seems to be coming in their own box instead of just a box per order. Hubby is more worried about money because before all this went down, he started going to a holistic doctor... and I started going to a hormone specialist... so between both of us in lab work, out of network doctor appointments, and special compounded medicines and super expensive supplements and special diets... we are bleeding money. :/ Then this pandemic and we are going food shopping more often, stocking up for the weeks we can't leave the house (which we are now coming to)... ugh.

edited ;) Your nest looks amazing!! I imagine you're going to really enjoy spending time in there!

I have tried really hard only to buy things that we need for the house. It gives me an excuse to shop, but helps keep the shopping under control. Once we're able to be out, all bets are off! First stop - Ikea in UT!!

there would be a space for you!

I must warn you though my area of Canada is not exciting, you would have to drive at least 4 hours to see anything ie Niagara Falls, Toronto etc. :)

lizziej 04-07-2020 09:41 AM

What a fabulous space!! I agree that we have to treat ourselves every once in a while.

We are actually saving money -- at least on gasoline. I normally have a 50-mile round trip commute to work and our son has about the same to commute to college, and we're saving money on his commuter meals. Hubby has a very short commute, but nonetheless is saving gasoline.

I have only placed one online order (at Target) but that was for essentials, like supplements and acne face cleanser. But we won't talk about shopping for digi scrap goodies! LOL

Okay, seriously though! It's so pretty and light in there!! It's like a sigh of cozy comfort with all the calming colors and the light streaming in. Wonderful work! Now come and do mine?
