What are some of your quirks ?

What things do you do that people have told you are weird ?

I put on tank tops feet first. Pull them up my body and then put my arms in. I take them off the proper way, but I step into them.

And while I don't think it's weird as I know plenty of people who do the same, I eat pizza with a fork and knife.

carrie1977 05-05-2014 08:54 AM

Hmmmmm....I'll have to think about this....

tanyiadeskins 05-05-2014 10:56 AM

My dh hates HATES hates that I put ketchup in my Mac n Cheese and is often accompanied by hot dogs lol.

I absolutely always have a big, loud hiccup when I have a first sip of soda.

....and thats all they could come up with lol. Thats kinda boring, geez.

Stacey42 05-05-2014 11:13 AM

I eat hot dogs with popcorn. And *only* with popcorn. If no popcorn is available I don't eat the hot dog. Corndogs are not an acceptable substitute. I pile the popcorn on top, like it's chili or coleslaw, so I get popcorn & hotdog in each bite. I've been doing it for 40 years.

tanyiadeskins 05-05-2014 11:43 AM

lol that is awesome!

adi&co. 05-05-2014 11:45 AM

I honestly and truly believe that a zombie apocalypse could happen. people laugh at me, but i seriously think we could get some sort of virus or crazy easy to pass parasite that kills most of our brain function except for the primal stuff and we all turn into zombies.

lauren grier 05-05-2014 12:30 PM

Tanyia I hiccup whenever I brush my teeth! We can be weirdo hiccup buddies.

KristinCB 05-05-2014 12:41 PM

i have none. none at all :)

lauren grier 05-05-2014 12:44 PM

Lies

MamaBee 05-05-2014 12:46 PM

When I'm really nervous or upset, I clean... haha, so to see you house, I'm a very relaxed person. :p

I think some stuffed animals have a personality... and "talk"... :o I blame it on that I am an only child with no kids my age around me in the neighborhood...

People in authority (police, boss, pastors, etc) that I respect make me extremely nervous... if there is a cop behind me when I'm the car, I will go around the block.

Darcy Baldwin 05-05-2014 12:46 PM

I pick at my eyebrow when I'm stressed. It's unconcious. But I've actually created a huge gap in one, once, that required much eyebrow penciling to cover, when I was particularly stressed out. It's one I've only picked up in the last 5 years or so, though. Menopausal? I won't discount it :D

marlathrall 05-05-2014 12:47 PM

I cough really bad when brushing my teeth... like an asthma attack kinda thing. It only happens when I get up really early in the morning or I'm having allergies.

YepBrook 05-05-2014 01:14 PM

If I am at a restaurant with other people, I have to ask everyone what they're ordering in order to decide what I'm going to order. It's annoying. But I can't help it!!!

KristinCB 05-05-2014 01:35 PM

K I'll share one that comes to mind.. lol

I have a real sensitivity to noise and so if i am staying at a hotel room i'll listen to the wall to see if we can hear the people beside us.. it doesn't even matter if I might not be able to hear them if i'm not listening at the wall.. I won't be able to relax if I do..

I am just SO indecisive that I need help narrowing down my choices. I like to hear what everyone is getting and I usually choose from those instead of the menu. I did it when we were at Margaritaville in Vegas during the SSD retreat. I ordered the fish tacos because Lynnette was getting them. :o

kristijoy 05-05-2014 02:21 PM

I don't like wind on my ears. I wear hats a lot!

Traci Reed 05-05-2014 02:41 PM

What are some of your quirks ?

I clean when I'm pissed.

I carry on conversations (fights) with people in my head that will never happen and for no reason. If you're a member of my family, no doubt we've fought a lot in my head.

I am sensitive to noise, especially loud talkers so I sometimes cover my ears when my kids talk to me to deaden the noise.

I love to dip cheese popcorn in Taco Bell hot sauce.

I like the dentist. It makes me feel good to take care of issues and I get to lay and watch tv for a couple hours while they do whatever they do.

Oh, and I don't like to make eye contact, it makes me extremely uncomfortable to look at strangers so I often glance at people and avert my eyes for a few seconds and look back.

Pretty sure both Karsten AND I are on the Asperger's spectrum.

OH MAN! I do this, too, and not just with family, but with people on the street that I just want to yell at and can't...or even sometimes imaginary fights because it could've gone that way, so I get it all ready in my head.!:hugs:

Both of these.

This is mostly me... I just need to know. Then I decide what I want. I don't have to choose what someone else gets but I might have not seen something so I *need* to know. LOL!

My other quirks...

I do not write in black pen. I prefer blue or colored.
I can whistle like a bird, and sometimes get replies. (lol, my dad taught me when I was 5 - I'm hoping he will teach my kids!)
I can write ambidextrously - and I can also write upside down and in cursive.

I do this too.. but I usually have 3 items that I'm deciding on and then when it's my turn, its a snap decision... or I'll really odd ball it and pick something random... drives hubby nuts - he is one that when at Perkins he always orders ham cheese omelet... at Wild Buffalo Wings - doz of wings, 1/2 parm garlic and 1/2 med...

And I fight with people in my head, too... usually sales people or what I wished I said to someone that ticked me off.

I also go worse case scenario for everything so when it isn't that I can think, "well, that wasn't too bad... "

hollyxann 05-05-2014 03:58 PM

I have way too many to even begin.....

Yes to this. I also clean LOUDLY when angry, slamming cupboards and sighing a lot.

I pick at my eyelashes and eye brows.

I HATE hearing people eat. Cookies and chips crunching near me sounds like thunder.

Not so much now, but I got weird OCD when my 1st was born. He never slept. So if he did sleep or had a good night, I'd do everything the same the next day. Even drive the same route. Same shower routine...everything. and I'd convince myself that the bad night meant I didn't follow the routine close enough o.O

I'm totally late to this discussion but when I read this, I had to comment because we saw people at Sam's Club eating pizza with a knife and fork a few weeks ago and Katie was absolutely appalled. "Who the heck eats pizza with a knife and fork? That's just weird." So I thought you'd like to know my daughter thinks youre a total weirdo!

R

KristinCB 05-07-2014 06:56 PM

La my sister eats hers with a knife & fork too.. she avoids eating with her fingers with anything :)

Libby Pritchett 05-07-2014 07:03 PM

LOL it depends on the kind of pizza I'm eating, but if it's something with a lot of toppings (which is how I like it) and a thin crust, I usually at least start out with a fork (I don't use a knife cause we have these knorks that I love). But when I give one to Jeff as I'm serving the pizza, he always looks at me like I'm crazy and says "I won't be needing that."

I'm trying to think of my quirks... I know I have several. To me, they're just normal stuff though, so I forget they aren't common. LOL

I do have to mash my eggs up with a fork before eating them... like my fried eggs (over medium please)... I just mash them to smithereens with the back of my fork because that's how my mom always did for me when I was a kid. I can't imagine just cutting into them and taking a bite. LOL

Also, I hate feet. Mine, other people's.... feet are gross. In my perfect world, people would wear socks 24/7 (I don't often sleep with socks on cause hubby hates it, but *I* prefer them). I have overcome that a little bit and last year actually purchased a pair of flip flops. I still prefer socks.

Without even reading the whole message, thats what I assumed too but maybe thats cause at the moment I'm working on a positive behavior assignment using an adult on the AS spectrum as my case study

About the only quirk I can think of is that I appear confident most of the time but I actually suffer from anxiety to the point when I need to stop and take a breather for a day or two to recover

Hi Lauren,

Not sure if this is actually a quirk, but I do seem to "stalk" you unintentionally, lol!
I fell in love with your blog (MTM) and we started working together, and then, I realized that before I knew you, I purchased some of your digi-kits, and now here I am on the Sweet Shoppe Community - lol! Don't call the police or anything, but I'm about to follow you on Pinterest too, haha!

lol Knorks. We call them sporks or splades. LOVE them.

Knorks sounds like it boobies.

nesser1981 05-07-2014 07:36 PM

I don't really have any, I don't think. I asked Sean and he said no.

Food, I have a couple weird things I like to eat.

I like ketchup on most meat that is hot. Not like lunch meat, but I like ketchup with like fried chicken, steak, thanksgiving turkey. LOL!

And my favorite sandwich is a banana and mayo.

MissKim 05-07-2014 07:57 PM

I cannot stand to touch a peeled banana. We had them for snack today at school and I had to put on gloves to peel them and serve them to the kids. I also don't eat bananas. Because I'd have to touch them to eat them. I do eat banana bread if someone else makes it.

I am fish phobic and when there is a fish nearby, I visibly shudder. This was a problem when the school office had a little bowl with a fish in it. I'd shudder every time I went in the office. It died, so no problems now.

I can't handle it when our Keurig light is blinking because it needs to be refilled. I have to fill it. Even though I don't drink coffee.

I can't stand dark rooms. First thing I do in the morning is open the curtains. First thing I do when I get to school is open the blinds. My parents tend to have their curtains closed at all times and I accuse them of being vampires.

(And Libby... I hate wearing socks and shoes. I wear flip flops as long as I can in the fall and start wearing them again as soon as it hits 50 in the spring. But I promise my feet look great.)

breakingbrie 05-07-2014 08:01 PM

I don't like to order fast food. If I'm driving I will purposely not order anything for myself so I can be done ordering sooner. Then I'll drive home and eat a bowl of cereal or something after I pass everyone's food out to them.

Hiccups - When I get them, I get them so bad. They are loud and obnoxious and they hurt really bad. They usually last soooo long, though occasionally I'll get just one really loud one randomly out of nowhere.

I have to have hair over my ears when I fall asleep, and through most of the day. Sometimes I can randomly go through a day with it up, but not often. I even re-cover my ears while I'm sleeping if I roll over or change position.

One I like is if I write down 20 things I need at the store, or a complicated drive through order, even if I leave my list at home, I'll remember it all. If I leave intending to get just a couple specific items without writing them down, I'll forget most of it.

NellahBean 05-07-2014 10:16 PM

I am kind of scatterbrained so I love to retrace my thoughts to figure out how I ended up where I am at. I am constantly fascinated by the trail of thoughts that cause me to get where I am. Super weird but wildly entertaining!

hahaha! Sporks are different (spoon/fork combo). Knork is the actual company name. It's a knife/fork combo. ;)

flergs 05-07-2014 10:32 PM

I've never heard of those!

flergs 05-07-2014 10:32 PM

Still sounds like boobs.

Libby Pritchett 05-07-2014 10:59 PM

*snort* I may never be able to use my flatwear without thinking of boobs now.

rach3975 05-07-2014 11:40 PM

Hmmm...quirks...nope, I have none at all. Right.

I'm very guilty of the conversations in my head. One or twice I've caught myself starting to act annoyed with DH based on a conversation we had in my head. (Guess I can't hold those against him, huh?) For me it's probably because I'm not really a talker. I'd rather write than speak because I can think first and edit myself. I often don't say things that I probably should because by the time I decide on an appropriate response, the moment is gone. That applies to all sorts of things, not just anger.

I hate sneakers. I wear them to the gym and that's fine, but not for anything else. I'm very casual and am in jeans 99% of the time, but I HAVE to wear them with real shoes or sandals.

I avoid the phone whenever possible. I even put off calling to make doctor's appointments because I don't want to talk to the receptionist. I think Caller ID belongs on a list of the greatest inventions of the last 50 years. My 5 year old is the only one in the house who likes the phone, so I'm looking forward to her being our designated phone answerer at some point in the future.

KristinCB 05-08-2014 12:19 AM

ohh sometimes I make up my own superstitions.. I can't exactly explain a scenario right at this moment though.

mpatry 05-08-2014 08:26 AM

Hmmmm...

Well I can't stand having someone in my personal space. Even my husband and DD. My DD loves to stand right. in. front. of. me. while we wait for her bus and it drives me bonkers! I feel trapped. Like the only way to get away would be by going backwards into danger.

When I go for a walk I imagine myself in one of my favourite tv shows. Either replacing a fave character or being a new character. :P

I have to be the one that packs our bags and the trunk of our car when we go away. No one else does it right.... lol. To me it's like a real life game of Tetris getting everything in with as little wasted space as possible, while also having things we'll need first at the top :P

When I sleep the room has to be dark. No light whatsoever if I'm going to have a good night's sleep, if there's light I just won't sleep as well - I'll have trouble falling asleep, I'll wake up a few times throughout the night etc.

I can't sit through a whole movie at the theater's without a bathroom break. I just can't do it... lol.

I can't watch tv or a movie without multitasking something else. Drives hubby crazy that I'll still be on my laptop, reading a book, looking at a magazine, playing a game on my phone while we watch a movie... lol.

I know the words to a song after only hearing it once. If I've heard it, I can sign it. Yet I've never gone out singing karaoke, though plenty of people have told me I should.

My movies are all in alphabetical order. My DD learned very early on how to alphabetize in order to conform to mommy's need for them to be in order... lol. But she has a remarkable memory, always has, and in the beginning would put them away right by simply memorizing what was beside it when she removed it :P She's a pretty smart little cookie... lol.

Time to take DD to school or I'd probably come up with some more :P

scrap2day 05-08-2014 09:00 AM

I eat pizza with fork and knife, usually because it is blazing hot and I can't wait. :D

I don't like wearing shoes in the house. If I'm at your house and it's ok I will kick off my shoes too...as long as I'm wearing socks.

I can read with the book upside down.

I prefer to load the dishwasher. It bugs me when things are not in the "right" place.

zakirahzakaria 05-08-2014 09:16 AM

I do this too!! And A LOT. Sometimes with family members and other people IRL that I'm mad at. And because I don't like dramas, I'd rather have the fight in my head than voice it out.
