Remember Alyssa joined the USAF?

And I told you guys that she was getting stationed at Hickam in Hawaii? Well, she got there on February 18th and she has been LOVING her life there. She goes hiking almost every weekend and of course goes to the beach too. I am so proud of her for many reasons but lately because I have taught her well and she has uploaded 284 pictures of her life since February 8th! I get to experience so much of her life through pictures and it is amazing. She even uploads them to FB at FULL resolution for me so I can grab them. I have to admit though, being a beach lover I get extremely envious when I see her pics.

Anywho....here is the beauty she gets to live in....

and here she is on a hike. Looking healthier and happier than I have seen her. Makes me cry to see her experiencing life and getting out there and really living. We should all do that no matter where we live.

Good for her! That's a tough assignment to get. LOL! At least in my career field it was, so many people want to go there. We only had so many spots opened for us.

I was in Intelligence.

A 1N271, the specifics are classified, even though that sounds interesting, its not, trust me. LOL! I found this unclassified summary, and a link that explains a little more. But basically we listened for signals all day, in my early days I listened to Morse Code and typed out what I heard.

Specialty Summary. Acquires, processes, identifies, analyzes, and reports on electromagnetic emissions. Operates complex equipment and systems to exploit signals intelligence production efforts.

That is so great! I actually went to high school with someone who is stationed there... he is deployed currently, but his wife is still there (also went to high school with her). I've been living vicariously through their photos- beautiful place!

kendallt 03-26-2012 04:16 PM

She looks amazing! Will you get to visit her soon?

jessica31876 03-26-2012 04:23 PM

Love this!! My niece is in Honolulu. Her hubby is stationed there but he is in the army. She said it is beautiful there too BUT she misses Florida.

Gotcha. Sissy is Intelligence too. I went and looked up her job cuz I was curious. She is Intelligence Analysis. I don't know her exact "numbers" though like you listed.

She loves what she is doing. As of right now. You did it for what 20 years though? I am sure it gets less exciting as time goes on. And how cool to see the technological advancements during your time.

nesser1981 03-26-2012 04:25 PM

I'd guess probably a 1N431. Did she go to tech school @ Goodfellow?

We worked closely with 1N4's at all the bases I've been stationed at.

Not sure. I don't know that we can afford to go as a family this year. But my DH promised me that he would make sure that at least I get there to see her a few times during her time there. And...he will make sure our youngest daughter gets to go at least once. He grew up there so although he would love to go back for a visit, he will give it up so that we girls can get there.

Ha ha...yea well, it was promised to us when we were balling our eyes out telling her bye. :D He's a sweet guy anyway so I'm sure we could have had the offer regardless but, tears help. ;)

neenee 03-26-2012 04:33 PM

Thanks everyone. XO

No, I put it down a couple times, I was at Elmendorf (Alaska), Misawa, Japan & Beale AFB, California.

I would have loved to have gone there, I had lots of friends that were stationed there.

lovely1m 03-26-2012 04:59 PM

How great is that! We sent a couple of squads to Hickam for a short 2 week deployment about a year and a half ago. Course, I didnt' get to go, needed me to work home station. Boo.

LJSDesigns 03-26-2012 05:36 PM

Beautiful photos Nee Nee. Your sister looks wonderful and your husband sounds like a great guy. :)

Tee hee....are you trying to flatter me or do you not know that is my daughter? :D

I'll take the flattery if that is it. I called her Sissy out of habit. That is what her little sisters always called her and now lots of other people.

Total bummer! Nothing like having a "vacation" on work's time and dime.

Isn't that funny how they get different nicknames like this. When my Nicholas was learning to speak he pronounced his name as K ah. So I often call him this still. I am the only one that does, but I bet it sounds funny when I am calling for him. The nickname for your daughters that always makes me wonder where it came from is Chunky.

Ha ha....well I happen to have a big butt :p and when she was a baby she actually had kind of a bubble butt like mine so...we started calling her Chunkybutt. Over the years, we shortened to Chunky. We call her that mostly actually. Even our friends. ;) We still say Chunkybutt from time to time though or Chunkybuttasaurus. When she was about 5 she asked her Dad, "if I were a dinosaur what kind would I be?" His response, "a Chunkybuttasaurus".

She loves her nickname. In fact, when we call her Megan she says "who?"

It is funny how these names develop. We all need to scrap a layout about nicknames. I have never scrapped about my kids names.

that is awesome and good for her to be getting out and exploring!!!! The one thing I made sure to do when I was in Sicily was travel through Eurpoe. I figured I might not ever get the chance again and I am soooo glad we did!

My family nickname is Bug. I have my grandfather to thank for it, but he did start with good intentions by calling me Loriebug. My dad shortened it to just Bug. When I was little I wanted to be Princess like my sister, but I've always been and will always be Bug. :)

Exactly Angie. You usually only get those opportunities once in life. I am so jealous of you living in Sicily! :glare: Lucky girl.....

Awww, that is so cute Lorie. I figured you must love bugs for a reason with those cute lady bugs in your avi and siggie. Family given nicknames make me all mushy....because there is usually some kind of history behind it that just shows a love or cuteness or story. But, I am just a big sap anyway. :p

ha! That's too funny. Great that she loves it. My mom used to call me Missy Lynn when I was a kid and I hated it. Bugged her about it til she stopped. lol

She looks so good!!! I hope you get to visit, that's so sweet of your hubby
