QOTD: 11/18 Food

I'm on a homemade cold chocolate drink kick right now. So that prompts today's question.

Is there anything that you make that is homemade rather than store-bought?

I have been using my ninja single serve blender cup to make homemade chocolate milk. I put in 1 heaping tbsp of cocoa, a big tbsp of stevia, a bit of vanilla, 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder and then blend it up. Yum! I've been having that in the afternoon or after dinner most days lately.

I make homemade cream puffs and chicken pot pies that are pretty good. :)

I make my own hot cocoa. I make it very similarly to how you do your chocolate milk, minus the protein powder and blending. Oatmeal is the one other thing that comes to mind. I make overnight oats rather than buying flavored oatmeal.

When I make lasagna I make that homemade, minus the noodles and sausage.

I make homemade taco seasoning after doing Whole 30 a couple years ago.

I haven't tried the overnight oats yet but have pinned a couple of recipes. if its the same thing as what you are talking about, its the oats in a jar that sit in the fridge overnight, right? Then you can eat them cold or heat up. I'm going to make a chocolate one that is going to be like having dessert for breakfast :)

homemade soups, lasagna, stuffed pasta shells

That's what it is, and the ones I usually make are chocolate. They're so good! Sometimes I even add a little peanut butter right before I eat them.

Yum....I'll try adding PB or almond butter to it too. You can't go wrong with PB and chocolate together!

I make my own spaghetti sauce (YUM!!) and alfredo sauce instead of buying jarred.

mariewilcox 11-24-2019 03:44 PM

I pretty much make everything homemade? Except I buy dry pasta ... and I buy almond milk instead of making my own. I make everything from scratch including my hot cocoa and iced chai lattes. I don't make my own nut butters either.

We make a lot homemade. I didn’t realize we did as much as we do until I started to list things in my head. I did chicken with homemade noodles the other day. We always do our own Alfredo sauce, baked beans, etc. My husband makes the best rolls and bread.

I make broth. It's so easy to make, and homemade broth is really delicious. I think it makes a huge difference when I use it for cooking, as opposed to throwing a Knorr cube in.
