Soooo, let's chat about My Four Hens...

Who's purchased some of Sarah's actions? And have you used them yet? Which ones did you get? Care to share some pics that you've used them on? Spill it! :)

I'm not sure yet which ones to get. I downloaded the free ones and am in love with Melancholy!

krystalhartley 08-06-2009 10:50 AM

I just saw that she even did actions a couple of days ago. She's always rocked the photog skillz, so I think it's such a perfect thing for her.

I hit her website briefly. I think I liked the "toolbox" stuff. I didn't snag anything 'cause I've already been toying around with doing my own actions and such as I do my layouts.

MissKim 08-06-2009 10:51 AM

I've bought most that are PSE compatible. I'm currently unzipping and getting ready to install. Will post some examples when I get time to play.

emmasmommy 08-06-2009 10:54 AM

I use PSE so not everything is compatible with my stuffs. I bought the Vintage set and downloaded all the freebies. I will seriously use them on all my photos from here on out. Even it's just to improve the overall sharpness

Here's a layout I've done with Muted Beauty on the photos...and then the original photo.

I got the photographer tools - LOVE them. I also DL-ed the Freebies. :) I'm pleased with my purchases.

gracielou 08-06-2009 11:06 AM

I bought the whole set of them when they were 50% off. Not sure if the sale has ended yet or not. I love them. I haven't used actions that much because I don't know enough about layers and all that but these actions were so easy to use and tweak. Here's a sample I put together of some of my favorite ones. I didn't do any tweaking to them, just ran the action and was done. The first picture is my original. If I had to just choose one set it would be the photographers toolbox. I use that alot. Lemon drop is also one that gives a fabulous vintage tone. LOVE IT!!!

alien21xx 08-06-2009 11:06 AM

I've blogged a little on her stuff. I think they're fab because my photo editing skills are shot.

meganmecrazy 08-06-2009 11:07 AM

I just went and picked up the couple freebies and I will try them out!! :)

digideb 08-06-2009 11:09 AM

I am very lucky to be one of Sarah's testers! But, unfortunately they don't work in PSE4! But, when I upgrade, I'm set! :)

jessica31876 08-06-2009 11:20 AM

im guessing they do not work in PSP so I wouldnt be able to use them. Id like to get some more scripts for my PSP that will work for photographs though!!

aggiefamily 08-06-2009 11:34 AM

I got all of them but haven't had a chance to play around much. I did try a few and love the Cotton, Baby's Breath and Chocolate Brownie.

BrattyMeg 08-06-2009 11:37 AM

I haven't had time to play yet wahhh

I got Color Play and her freebies :) I think I might get the toolbox too..so curious about that airbrush action lol

lauren grier 08-06-2009 11:39 AM

I got to test in pse 5 for her.. they are fab!!! I love love love love them <3

lliella 08-06-2009 11:40 AM

i downloaded the free ones, and i like the look of melancholy from her previews. but when i ran it on my photos, it looks too red and the noise just really stood out. maybe i did something wrong?

jenn7 08-06-2009 11:41 AM

I was lucky enough to win her whole collection yesterday! I've looked through them briefly but haven't had time to really play yet. They look cool though! (I'm addicted to actions - LOL)

kscwgirl 08-06-2009 12:00 PM

I got the photographers tool box. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

holy crap!!! that's amazing!! congrats!

i have everything that works in pse and i loooove all of them! they are brilliant, they run super fast and the seriously transform my photos!

my3hens 08-06-2009 12:28 PM

Aww you girls are awesome, I am so glad that you like them! Its really amazing to see them around the galleries and how they have worked for different people.
Allie, I have kinda noticed in general with actions that some just work better for some photos then others do sweetpea so it may just not be a good action for that photo however there are a few things I do with most actions. Im a tweaker LOL That sounds awful huh, so if I notice there is to much color etc, I lower the opacity of the action. ( I tried to make sure that they are all adjustable so you can totally tweak as you need and are completely non destructable to your photos. You can also add a hue/ saturation adjustment layer and turn some of the red down. The possibilities are really endless. If all else fails experiment with different photos :) Some look amazing on some photos and totally meh on others. Hth sweety!
Anywho thanks again I really am having a blast watching the actions at work! There are actually 8 freebies total up right now, four will work on elements and cs and the other four most likely just cs and up. Today is the last day of the sale though and retro summer the elements freebie will return to full price.
Congrats to the girlies that have won as well. I have had a blast giving stuff away!!
Hugs!

1girl1boy 08-06-2009 12:29 PM

I have the Vintage Elements and Black & Brilliance (and the Retro Summer cuz it was free) because they work in PSE5. I haven't had a chance to really play with them yet but I can't wait!

Jenn Barrette 08-06-2009 12:39 PM

Can some one PM me with a link please :)

digideb 08-06-2009 12:42 PM

PMd ya!

AnnieBananie 08-06-2009 12:44 PM

I swoon for them all but will have to wait until the next sale. :glare: lol

Great job Sarah

krystalhartley 08-06-2009 12:44 PM

Well, shoot! I didn't realize there was a sale. That's too hard to pass up, so I'm just going to have to snag some after all.

Joan 08-06-2009 01:18 PM

I loooooove me some photo actions and these are seriously some of the most amazing I've used! They're super easy to use and the results are fantastic.

This is the only example I have handy right now. The photos I used here were cute moments but conditions made the quality pretty crappy so I hadn't used them until now. This is the Fresh Grass action and I love love love the results!

http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/...aby-girl14.jpg

I just saw the newest pack last night and I know I have to have it! I'll probably end up buying a couple other packs while the sale is still on too, because I'm completely in love with all of the ones I have now!

crystalbella77 08-06-2009 01:26 PM

They are all completely fabulous! I LOVE the tool box. That airbrushing is awesome. Totaly smooths out the skin and blemishes and stuff without making people look not real, lol! I have used it on nearly every photo, lol! And the eye pop is AMAZING!

Here is a photo where I used the air brushing, the eye pop, the basic editing and the color pop (I think...) all from the toolbox:

http://i25.tinypic.com/bdwcqp.jpg

and the original :)

aly321 08-06-2009 01:57 PM

I snagged the Color Play and the Black & Brilliance...completely loving them so far!! I think I may have to go back for more! :)

scarletsierra 08-06-2009 02:04 PM

I have them all and I love, love, love them. I have never been much of an action user as I love to play with my photos manually, but these are truly amazing and I'm already tempted to use them on every single photo. And I'm not just saying that because I love Sarah to bits (though I do :)!). These actions are very well done and super easy to use and tweak if necessary. And the results are gorgeous!

LibbysMommy 08-06-2009 02:08 PM

I had drifted away from actions for awhile because I never could get them to look quite right. As soon as I saw these I knew I wanted them all, lol. Mostly it was because of Sarah's amazing photography. :) These are some of the best actions I've ever used. I have been soooo happy with them and have the hardest time deciding which ones to use on a photo!!

WOW! What an amazing difference!!!

I was sucked into her FABULOUS 50% off sale and I got THE ENTIRE PACKAGE. lol I'm set on photo actions for a loooooong time! :) I only played with a couple photos, but I can't wait to try out more of them!!

mlewis 08-06-2009 04:05 PM

I picked up the Vintage and Black and Brilliance set for elements, and really like them. They're the first sets that don't do crazy things with my kid's Asian skin tone. The b/w are especially great!

Paula 08-06-2009 04:13 PM

I bought several of her actions and they are in one word: FANTASTIC!!!

Brooke W 08-06-2009 04:18 PM

I got to splurge and get the whole kit and kaboodle. My own skills aren't that spiffy for photo editing and sarah's just rock. I'm an actions addict anyway and hers are among the best as far as I'm concerned

WalkersMommy 08-06-2009 04:19 PM

I use PSE5 so I picked up all the PSE compatible ones: Vintage Elements, Randomly Vintage, Retro Summer, and I just bought Black and Brilliance. I haven't had a chance to play with Black and Brilliance yet, but here are some of my faves from the others...

Dang, I wish I had PS. These look great.

ajf9597 08-06-2009 04:24 PM

Those of you who have posted pics, did you have to do any additional playing or just run the action and they were done?

WalkersMommy 08-06-2009 04:30 PM

On a couple of mine I lowered the contrast a tiny bit, but other than that I didn't do anything :)

sczos911 08-06-2009 04:36 PM

The Photographers Tool box - The Eye Pop action is FABULOUS. I have yet to post these layouts, but they were in my photobucket....

On this layout - I used the Pixie Stick Action and the Eye Pop Action:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...vsat4-copy.jpg

This layout, I used a TON in the photographer's tool box - shadows and brighted and I think I used the lemon drop action.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...Drive-copy.jpg

That photo in the lower left - I was COMPLETELY in shadows. :)

I just went back and got the Vintage Actions & The Random Vintage Actions. I'll have to reiterate that these are VERY usable and tweakable.

nun69 08-06-2009 05:00 PM

can someone PM me the link please  I LOVE actions and use the ones from Pioneer Women quite often

:thumbup:I SOOOO love these - I got the Photographer's tool box for the airbrushing mostly because I need to get rid of blemishes....and it works wonderful. I don't have a sample of that handy but here are ones I used them on:

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...9728&ppuser=16

This one I also used her Berry Sweet one in conjunction with the Photographer's Tool Box:

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...9139&ppuser=16

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...9516&ppuser=16

The actions are extremely easy to modify without destroying what the action is supposed to do and I still did use them in conjunction with my Pioneer Women ones (I love that ethereal look!).

I plan on going back and getting more today - I want the whole pkg because of the sale but already bought some when they first came out because I was impatient....soooo just going to choose which ones I just can't live without.

joelsgirl 08-06-2009 08:47 PM

I got her newest set and can't wait to use them once I am back in the game. :)

wvasweetness 08-06-2009 09:16 PM

So tell me how you girls are changing the look of these actions... mostly just opacity up/down?

Lizzy257 08-07-2009 05:15 AM

I got the soft and sweet set and am in LOVE!! Then I went back to get the photographer's toolbox last night, but the site just wouldn't load for me for almost 2 hours (guess everyone was making last minute purchases), and I can't afford to get them now that the sale has ended :(

pam4gators 08-07-2009 06:12 AM

I couldnt get them while on sale either. I just thought the site was down. Wonder if the sale could be extended a day, ;)

Leah 08-07-2009 11:32 AM

I'd like the link too please! :)

Megan Turnidge 08-07-2009 04:06 PM

Woot! I got to play today. I tried editing this pic before but gave up because I was having a hard time fixing how blue it was... but I combined Brown Eyed Girl with Slightly Golden and now I can scrap it!
