iPhoto Help....

I've googled and haven't found a solution. Hoping someone here can maybe help me?

I just got an iMac last month. Still getting used to it. I prefer to edit my photos with Photoshop, and I've noticed that if I open the photo in Photoshop, and then save it, it doesn't show the edits in iPhoto... So, I've just started putting my photos in my folders under documents instead of dealing with iPhoto...

I just noticed today, that when importing photos from my phone (since the only way to get them off of my iPhone with my computer seems to be with stupid iPhoto) if I export the photos (either exporting or dragging and dropping) from iPhoto to a folder in my documents - it makes it seem like the photo was created TODAY. It doesn't keep the photo details. I did select the option to keep the file details when exporting...

WHAT IS THIS!? Is there any way to fix that? If not it seems I am going to have to connect my iPhone to my old laptop, transfer files to my external hard drive, then transfer to my iMac. I could do that, I am just super annoyed with all of it. And that the last 373 photos I already imported to iPhoto and deleted from my phone do not have the dates except in iPhoto!

I don't use iphoto because I always had weird problems with it, but I do know that there is a program called image capture (not sure if it comes with the mac or if my husband downloaded it). I plug my phone in, open image capture, and then choose my phone from the list of connected devices. It then brings up all the photos on the phone and I can drag and drop them into the desired folders on my computer. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that information - does that program keep the dates on the photo files for you?

Yeah - I abandoned iPhoto a long time ago. It's stupid. :D

I get photos off my phone by syncing the Camera Roll on my phone with Dropbox. Then you can just drag them off of Dropbox into your regular folder system on your iMac. Dropbox does change the file names (which is kind of annoying), but it doesn't mess with any of the regular meta data; the date the photo was taken etc. will stay intact.
