hotdogs

It's the 4th of July here in the US and that means families and friends gathering together for BBQs and potlucks. Tonight we will be going over to my brother in laws house for a BBQ, and we are having hamburgers and hotdogs. I saw this hotdog photo/question on social media and it got me wondering how my scrappin friends like their hotdogs cooked?

I'm somewhere between a 2 and 3, maybe a 4 if that's all there is to choose from. My sister in law would be a 10 on this scale. She likes it’s burnt to non recognition - where it’s so burnt it's like eating a piece of charcoal.

I'm somewhere between 2 and 3 as well...

solid 3 for me please! With ALL the fixins ! ;)

2, but since I started having trouble with my gallbladder, hot dogs are a HUGE trigger for me. : ( Chili cheese dogs from sonic are one of my favorite indulgences, but it's just not worth the pain that comes with it anymore.

3 for me! I like mine with mustard onions and chili. Enjoy the BBQ!

oh no - health issues are no fun! That Sonic chili cheese dog sounds yummy! Might have to try one.

I'm a 1-2 but my SIL is a solid 4 lol. My hometown is home to the hot dog hall of fame. 12 chili dogs in 3 hours gets your name on the wall. When I was in high school, LOTS of guys would attempt the challenge. It's fun to recognize their names on the wall. The record holder is a small woman. https://www.woodtv.com/news/kent-cou...50-chili-dogs/

3 with onion and mustard - no bun. :)

I like my meat well done so I'd pick "almost" 4.

rdjrneace 07-05-2022 07:39 PM

I am a 1 just put it on grill get it warm and take it off.

2 looks perfect to me!

I would go with 1 if it was heated all the way through. I don't like the center of my hotdog to be cold. I worry that it's not cooked enough. I know it is, but I still worry about silly stuff like that.

I've had chili and cheese on my hotdogs before, but never slaw. I wonder if I would like it. I might have to try it.

LauraOD 07-06-2022 06:48 PM

I would pick 4, yum!

Sherri Tierney 07-07-2022 01:54 PM

I lean more towards 4. I hated them that way until I was at a barbeque at our minister's house and he accidentally 'burned' them. I didn't have the heart to say I didn't like them that way so I ate it... and loved it. My son would be a -1 on this scale. He likes his warm but not have any char marks or 'crust'.

aussiegirl 07-07-2022 02:00 PM

I'm between a 1 and a 2. I don't like my hot dogs charred. Now marshmallows, that's another story! Burnt to a crisp! :)

Kimberly27 07-08-2022 12:27 AM

When I could eat them it would be 3 or 4 for me but I don't eat them anymore.
I had gall bladder surgery and just can't eat them anymore.

Karen_ 07-08-2022 08:40 AM

I'd pick #4. I like a bit of crusty char on my hot dogs. Lol.

Everyone I have ever made them for has loved them, so give it a whirl. I think you'll be glad you did. :D

Love this funny question!
I think it would be between 2 and 3. I would love taste with chili or cheese, usually here's they just add ketchup or mayonnaise and the best are with Sauerkraut but not the most common unfortunately.:p

Dalis 07-13-2022 12:13 PM

A SOLID 2, if you can't achieve a 2 then a 1.

I haven't tried mayo on my hotdog but since fry sauce is basically ketchup mixed with mayo, I'd probably like it!

I'll always have a soft spot for Seattle dogs: bun w/ cream cheese, dog, and grilled onions. I like to take mine a little further and do cream cheese, beer-braised onions, homemade pickled jalapeño relish, a bit of grilled sauerkraut, and sriracha drizzled on top.

I would have to be number 1. I can take the grill marks but that's about it. Give me a bun, mayonnaise, ketchup, onions, chili, and sauerkraut and pickle relish. Yummy Yummy!

I have been known to take them right out of the package and eat them cold but that was many years ago.
