My hubby fractured his back

he's part of a special forces unit and they jump out of airplanes every few weeks. he's been doing it so often lately that it's become routine and I have only been slightly worried the last few times he did it. then today he texts me telling me he landed wrong and he's in a ton of pain. He was walking around afterwards, so he thought it was just a bad land that he could walk off. luckily the medics on site were quick to respond and force him to get it looked at because he's totally the type to just try and tough stuff out. Anyway, he's got a hairline fracture on his lower spine and thankfully it's not worse than it is. They say the recovery time is about a month, so he's very lucky in that respect. We could use some prayers though as he is in a lot of pain and if he doesn't recover right, he could get medically discharged from the army which would leave us in a bit of a pickle money wise.

thanks ladies!

ps. sorry for my million posts lately :o

Oh my goodness, Adrienne!!! That's so scary! I'm so glad it wasn't worse. I hope he heals up fast & nicely so that he can go back to work. (((HUGS)))

Oh, no! I hope he recovers quickly and fully. Good thing the medics made him get it looked at right away.

Lyd 05-28-2014 10:37 PM

Oh, that sounds very painful! Definitely sending thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Good luck, and keep us posted on how he's doing!

staciahall 05-28-2014 10:39 PM

That's awful! I hope they can keep the pain under control for him so that he can heal as quickly and safely as possible.

jacinda 05-28-2014 10:52 PM

Oh no. I hope he heals right. I know how important full mobility is to the SF guys.

KristinCB 05-28-2014 11:12 PM

oh no!! sending quick healing vibes his way! <3

carrie1977 05-28-2014 11:37 PM

Oh, how awful! Tell him to get lots of rest so that he heals properly!

adi&co. 05-29-2014 12:53 AM

Thanks ladies. The Army isn't letting him have time off and they're making him still go to work so I'm a bit worried. I swear they're looking for reasons to get rid of guys lately. It has me worried on top of worrying about him.

nun69 05-29-2014 01:59 AM

if he hasn't seen ortho yet, insist on a consult. We're dealing with some stuff right now and the unit medic didn't give DH a profile for no PT, and the specialist was pissed because the fact that they still expected him to PT and such really delayed his healing process.

Nettio 05-29-2014 10:09 AM

I was going to ask what his profile says since that's what the command will base their decision on and unless it specifically says he can't do anything then no, they won't let him sit at home.

scrap2day 05-29-2014 11:36 AM

Sending prayers and positive thoughts for healing.

abm234 05-29-2014 11:54 AM

So glad it wasn't worse! Hope his recovery is speedy!

jk703 05-29-2014 12:19 PM

oh gosh. Hoping he heals fast! It doesn't seem right that he has to work through pain! Hugs!

adi&co. 05-29-2014 12:49 PM

He's got an MRI scheduled for today and I hope they let him off of PT at least. He can walk so I'm not surprised they're not giving him time off.

NeverendingJen 05-29-2014 01:43 PM

most likely he'll be off PT and have a weight limit as to what he's allowed to carry is my guess. that should at least help

tanyiadeskins 05-29-2014 04:08 PM

I am so sorry Adi, poor guy, that has to be painful. I know what you mean about the type of man that tries and work through it. Its good in a sense but then you worry about them hurting themselves more. I hope he heals quickly and well and that work gives him some sort of reprieve even if it isn't fully off work

jak 05-29-2014 09:27 PM

Ouch! And scary... hope he gets better quickly.

lovely1m 05-29-2014 10:55 PM

So scary, I hope it all heals well and quickly.

lingovise 05-29-2014 11:11 PM

oh my word... how scary!! I hope that they'll at least assign him light duty at work and that he finds relief soon and heals quickly. sending loads of love and T+P for your family!

Kjersti 05-30-2014 03:08 PM

I'm so sorry :(

SeattleSheri 05-30-2014 05:46 PM

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that :( I hope he heals quickly and isn't in too much pain!

Saar 05-31-2014 12:46 AM

I'm so sorry to hear that Adrienne.
Hope he has a quick recovery.
Big hug to you.
