I wonder if they'll kick her out of school...

I love it, and so does she.

ZaCola3 09-01-2008 02:00 PM

It does look cool!

Becca Bonneville 09-01-2008 02:00 PM

Ha! That is awesome! My 16 old niece wants to color the tips of her hair blue.

Nikki Epperson 09-01-2008 02:00 PM

Cute!!

Is there a policy against it?

lauren grier 09-01-2008 02:00 PM

lol woot

breakingbrie 09-01-2008 02:01 PM

Oh, I hope not! I think it's super cute!! I'm all for coloring hair like that, but I don't think I'd let my girls have all pink/blue/purple hair. LOL, but streaks, or tips look so cute!

jessica31876 09-01-2008 02:01 PM

very cool!! My daughter's school's dress code requires that all students have only natural hair colors (meaning blonde, brown, red and black) A kid at her school dyed his hair a blue-black and he was forced to dye it a natural color or he couldnt attend school

SirScrapalot 09-01-2008 02:03 PM

I hope they let her keep it, it looks super cool!!

Angie4b1g 09-01-2008 02:03 PM

Well, it just said "no flourescent sprayed hair".

It's not sprayed, but maybe I'm splitting hairs. No pun intended.

Can always dye it back, I guess. It's so HER though. It's just hair. :)

Nikki Epperson 09-01-2008 02:06 PM

I hope they let her keep it. It's HER hair! I don't understand why schools are so picky about hair.

BrattyMeg 09-01-2008 02:08 PM

would be a nogo at my dd's school..but they are super strict and stick to the dress code..It would fly at my sons though (elem..)

newfiemountiewife 09-01-2008 02:15 PM

Lots of kids here have this done, and it's not an issue at all. I think it looks cool!

kscwgirl 09-01-2008 02:17 PM

It looks cute!!!

Angie4b1g 09-01-2008 02:25 PM

Here's the layout. LOL

pewtertm 09-01-2008 02:39 PM

That would've broken dress code at the schools I attended or worked at. Hair could only be dyed a natural color. The more recent reason I've heard is that it's distracting to others....I suppose it could be, but it's less distracting than the guys walking around with those disks the size of quarters in their earlobes EWWWW. I asked one kid, who was about 15, if it hurt all the time to wear those things, and he said, 'only when you increase the size'...I'm wondering if he'll like the look of giant holes in his lobes when he's 40 or 50...or the first time a curious baby reaches up and yanks.

ashleyprugh 09-01-2008 02:43 PM

really now. i think it looks AWESOME! i don't think she should be reprimanded at school for it. it's only ONE streak. what's the big deal?
i hope she loves it. and that people love it as well.
and the layout is so pretty. the colors work with the picture!

AddictedScrapper 09-01-2008 02:45 PM

Oh that's adorable! I hope she can keep it!

Laura_A 09-01-2008 03:02 PM

CUTE! How old is she? My DD has asked if she can have a streak like that and I've tossed the idea around a bit. Not sure yet how I feel about it. She's 8.

Hope she doesn't get too much grief over it.

Angie4b1g 09-01-2008 03:05 PM

She's 9.

And it was totally my idea, I didn't even TELL her about it until I was ready to put it in. She is TOTALLY in love with it.

I got the stuff at Walgreens for $9. It says it lasts 6 weeks, but I imagine it will fade out. Then she'll just have a blonde spot where we bleached it. :)

OrianaVianey 09-01-2008 03:11 PM

I attended to a catholic school and this will be a no go there.
We had uniforms with specific lenght of the skirst, no hair dying, no jewlery, short hair for the guys.

I do think 9 is a little young, but it does look cute

breakingbrie 09-01-2008 03:26 PM

Love your lo!!

lovely1m 09-01-2008 03:43 PM

love it! I wish I had done that when I still could.

Jennifer 09-01-2008 03:53 PM

I think it looks super cute! At all the school where I've taught, it wouldn't fly though. Good luck with it and hope the school's ok with it! It is her hair, after all! :)

KirstieGai 09-01-2008 03:55 PM

my DD would love that but she wouldn't be allowed at school

pbumbaca 09-01-2008 03:56 PM

That is sooo fun! I love it! I want one!

Voodoo_Bryn 09-01-2008 04:11 PM

haha I was thinking the same thing, Pam!! I've had pink and you can see my purple in my avi, but I want a streak now.

mommy2aria06 09-01-2008 04:12 PM

Love it!

jessica31876 09-01-2008 05:09 PM

Oh I absolutely adore your layout!!! Im guessing that you could do a twist with it and it would be barely noticeable. I do think schools go a bit overboard with dresscode. Like for instance my daughter was not allowed to wear her Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt because it had a faded confederate flag behind the logo. Unless you really looked you wouldnt notice it. Yet there were kids at her school who wore mexican flags and puerto rican flags and nothing was said to them. She wore a double spaghetti strap tank top under a jacket and was told she had to keep the jacket zipped while she was there but girls wearing cheerleader shorts (those super-duper short shorts) and nothing was said to them. All four instances were against school dress code but the administrators pick and choose who to discipline for it.

webseitler 09-01-2008 08:02 PM

That is so freeking awesome!

~Julie~ 09-01-2008 08:08 PM

I think it looks cute in her hair!

MikkelPaige 09-01-2008 08:36 PM

My cousin had virtually the same thing with her hair but it was a little less of her hair and it was in the front, closer to her bangs. She was 5 at the time. :-) She was not kicked out of pre-K. LOL.

I love it!

tuneskids 09-01-2008 10:51 PM

I've done this lots, never gotten in trouble for it!! Cody has had midnight blue hair, green hair, red hair, burgundy hair, purple hair, bleached hair ... the list goes on with him! Jenna has also had red hair and bleached hair, and Xander, when in preschool, had a green or red mohawk!!! Thankfully, the schools here are laid back.

Currently, Cody and Jenna (and her best friend) are now sporting fuschia pink and midnight blue streaks, done tonight, by my neighbour. This is on top of Cody's two shades of blond, two shades of red and two shades of brown streaks he has had done this summer.

I'll be taking pics tomorrow of their first day of school to share!!

meganmecrazy 09-02-2008 10:12 AM

How cute!!! I hope they let her keep it!

Angie4b1g 09-02-2008 10:16 AM

So far they haven't called. LOL

I brushed it to the other side and put a ponytail in, so it's not AS obnoxious. I figure I'll break them in gently. By the time they realize she's got a HUGE HOT PINK streak in her hair, they'll be used to it. LOL

junebug 09-02-2008 10:19 AM

i think its cute and have even been tempted to do something like this in my own hair, but i'm 30. Am I too old to be that unique, lol? My oldest (she's 5) would love to have pink in her hair, but i have no idea what the school rules says about it yet.

ditzyscrap 09-02-2008 10:23 AM

I don't think our school cares - one of the girls in Mason's class has crazy colored hair regularly - her mom is a "cool" hairdresser, lol.

I've always wanted to put a streak of pink in my hair. Around here, once a year at the hospital there is a "Hair Massacre" where they raise money for cancer research and dye people's hair pink. I considered it last year, but I didn't find out about it until we were AT the hospital with Mason in surgery (to have his port from chemo removed), so it wasn't really an option. But I'm going to try to keep up this year and maybe go in with a friend and get a streak put in somewhere not too obvious (it would be REALLY frowned upon at church, lol).

Mandy 09-02-2008 10:51 AM

Thats cute! I just did my daughter's hair from brown to blonde with hot pink strips.

mrs_jb 09-02-2008 11:09 AM

That is adorable! I love it!

Laura_A 09-02-2008 11:30 AM

This thread is REALLY making me want to do this in Riley's hair. The problem is, her sister will want it too but Regan is only 6. It's so hard to enforce the age rules especially in the fashion dept being that Regan is the more fashion consious one. My girls (especially Riley) have dark brown hair though, so I wonder what color would look cute.

my3hens 09-02-2008 11:35 AM

Awww I love it, Im glad so far so good! It looks fab on her!

my4boys 09-02-2008 11:41 AM

LOVE it......I only have boys and I am not sure I could do it anyway...we have pretty strict rules at all of our schools!!!!

Leila 09-02-2008 11:48 AM

Love it!!!  She'd be sent home with a note here, requesting that the color be changed back to a natural shade.

For those who are hesitant to actually color their child's hair, what about something like this: Clip In Extensions? If they made something like that for short boy hair, I'd go for that for my guys in a heartbeat. :p

scrappychic 09-02-2008 01:08 PM

Looks great, what cool shade of pink! Hope it's OK with the school.
