Scrapper confessions

I admit.
Every time I start a layout, I find the BUSIEST background paper I can find and begin with that.

nietis 03-04-2016 08:15 AM

Ummm.... not your fault!
I do that too and then might change later :p

carrie1977 03-04-2016 08:30 AM

Solid kraft paper for me...then I'll change later if it goes with my page.

luckyme 03-04-2016 08:30 AM

And I start with the plainest, lightest paper in the kit! (But I do make an effort to try new things from time to time!)

emmasmommy 03-04-2016 09:04 AM

also, EVERY time I use a non-SSD kit (**gasp** i know), I'm reminded why I never stray far from here.

Everything's all willy nilly!!!!!! I love how I just KNOW where certain elements will be in my SSD kits <3

Valgal 03-04-2016 09:07 AM

I can't cluster flowers. I even try to copy you girls that do it, but mine look stupid.

I concur.

JennNtheBoys 03-04-2016 09:10 AM

Me too!!! I love the busy patterns, BUT 9 times out of 10 after everything for the rest of the page is done I switch it out to a solid because I fear it's "too much" for the page.

LeeAndra 03-04-2016 11:53 AM

I can't ever get ribbons or strings to look right on my pages.

KingsQueen82 03-04-2016 11:57 AM

I'm obsessed with woodgrain background and I fear they day they go out of style! I won't know what to do with myself! Lol!

bcgal00 03-04-2016 12:13 PM

Laura - when you said "willy nilly" I just about spit out my coffee LOL. My hubs and I have a running joke about that phrase. He said it one day, I started laughing and asked why was he using that phrase? Who says that phrase, it's so silly? He then said that he had no idea why that popped into his head b/c ya....no one ever says that phrase. But ever since then....we crack up whenever we hear someone say that phrase now and funny thing is, we hear it said at least a few times a week, and it always makes up remember our little joke and laugh. So now you must think I'm nuts LOL.

I almost always start out with lightly patterned or solid paper but do often blend another pattern overtop. I too am obsessed about woodgrain and love when I find that in a kit.

I"m obsessed with them and fear that customers will say "IF SHE PUTS ONE MORE WOOD PAPER IN HER KIT I'M GOING TO SCREAM" haha

mrsashbaugh 03-04-2016 12:31 PM

I usually start with the elements and then add the paper...I'm funny like that.

I love woodgrain too Cassie and Kristin...we will not get sick of woodgrain in your kits!

So it seems we could keep each other in business. LOL!

Valgal 03-04-2016 12:36 PM

So we should all do one layout with a big busy print background. Just to get over ourselves.

meagan43 03-04-2016 12:42 PM

I confess that while I see what I want to do in my head, I look for a template that does it for me. Does that make me lazy?

dinahfig 03-04-2016 12:44 PM

Me too Jenn! I have a hard time coming up with exciting ways to add the pretty patterned papers on the solid backgrounds.

anelia 03-04-2016 12:52 PM

Well, I like wooden paper too and I sometimes fear my pages get boring but PLEASE don't stop including them! Everything goes out of fashion eventually but that doesn't bother me at all! It's cool to see how things/trends change :)
I admit I can't use buttons, staples, etc. I always try to include some when they're in a kit but usually I remove them from my page because I don't really like how I've placed them. Same with templates - I *almost* always remove the buttons.

jak 03-04-2016 03:25 PM

Plain white/light coloured backgrounds for me too. I'll occasionally put something more daring on there but almost certainly will change my mind within 2 seconds.

OrianaVianey 03-04-2016 03:59 PM

I confess that the first thing I do when I´m using a template is remove every single flower, leaf, button ribbon and leave it as naked as I can, just with the photos and the papers... and most of the time enlarge the pics too

clucaswvu04 03-04-2016 05:12 PM

Oh yes me too with the staples and strings...I want to use them, they look fantastic on other people's pages...but on mine I just make them look stupid.

And clustering flowers with greeny - yep can't make it look right

rach3975 03-04-2016 06:46 PM

Yeah-I can make small clusters, but that's about it. I'm in awe of some of the amazing, big clusters that other scrappers do. Apparently 3-5 elements is my limit.

That's more my speed, too! I love whites, kraft, woodgrain, and sometimes a small, understated pattern. I like my bold patterns and bright colors in smaller doses.

I LOVE your wood grain papers so please don't stop including them!

Nikki Epperson 03-06-2016 11:06 AM

I can't stop using plaid!

ellasspace 03-06-2016 11:07 AM

I have a hard time taking a template literally, I always change them up often making them look nothing like the original template ... Is this bad :(

JillW 03-06-2016 03:55 PM

I almost always start with a plain background paper and then when I'm completely done with the page I layer just about every paper from the kit - and start working my way "down" through the layers to find the "perfect" one.

Same here. My files often end up so big that they won't save because I have every piece of paper on there trying out different options. Sad thing is that 99% of the time I end up going with the one i origionally picked off the start. But then I know for sure it is the one I want.

I usually hide the layers I don't use, then use the "delete hidden layers" option to make my file smaller. I also merge all layers down to save space.

How about a big busy print blended onto a wood background? I'm sure Kristin has some great ones in her store. ;)

joelsgirl 03-06-2016 11:24 PM

I'm a sucker for a big, bold bg, too. Often I think, "This layout would look better with a plain bg," BUT I JUST CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO DO IT.

Also, I can't use washi tape. It always looks so fake when I use it, EVEN ON MY PAPER PROJECTS! So I just avoid it at all costs.

lol ^^ me! :/ and woodgrains! ♡

plus can I do a designer confession? plaid... it doesn't feel right not to add a plaid patterned paper on a kit!
another confession: have no idea if they are being used (trendy) or if it's totally out of use! :(

I love woodgrain and i am addicted to flowers i don't mind if it is a boys page or not i always use a lot of flowers ... ooooh and paint whe need paint !

kristalund 03-07-2016 09:59 AM

i tend to avoid busy papers or use them in small doses like in pockets :)

bexy 03-07-2016 12:52 PM

I confess that I will pretty much always use feathers of any kind if they are in a kit - LOVE them!

Neverland Scraps 03-07-2016 06:45 PM

I agree, I love the wood backgrounds----don't get rid of them, I'm not ready for change.

I scrap my entire layout before I even know what photos I'm going to use . . . if I put my photos (that I want to scrap) on the layout, 9 out of 10 times I never finish said layout.

Bunty1983 03-08-2016 07:37 AM

I use wayyyyyyyyyyyy too many heart elements :hugs:

Never get sick of Woodgrain, there's not enough actually!!! ;)

I am also 'allergic' to busy papers lol :D

I feel guilty if I don't at least attempt to use every element in a kit, like I'm letting the designer down or something. I've got issues.
