QOTD - Quirks - 09.27.15

The weekend's winding down (boohiss!), but the Sunday QOTD party is just starting up! :D

What is one of your weirdest/funniest quirks?

I have so very many, but one is that I don't have ANY icons on my laptop screen. The ones I use most often are embedded into the sidebar. I can't stand a messy screen. Similarly, I have to immediately unzip .zip files when I download something and immediately empty the Recycle Bin when there's something in it.

Questions like this are hard since I don't see anything I do as weird or quirky but I'm sure others disagree... lol.

I am quirky just like you! I can't stand a messy desktop on my computer. Which is funny because if you saw my real desk..... :w00t:

I don't like buttons... I avoid items of clothing that have them. Putting buttons on my scrapbook pages makes me uneasy too!!!

I always do a "sweep" of the house before leaving -- checking windows are closed, faucets are off, hair straightener is unplugged, stove is off, doors are locked... My husband thinks it's funny - but I think "better safe than sorry"!

Yes to this....

I have so many quirks that I can't tell where the quirk starts and being normal begins.. haha...

One of them that I can think of is I lie on my left side for short naps and the right side to sleep at night... even if I would fall asleep on my left at night, I will wake in an hour, "refreshed" as if I took a nap...

I have to mop our home every day, at least once. I can't stand the dust... Is that quirky enough?

My husband would really appreciate this if it was a quirk of mine lol! I hate mopping and cleaning the bathrooms. HATE...or maybe dread is a better word.

I clean the bathroom once a week, but mop everyday. We have no vacuum cleaner.
I can't stand the bathroom floor to be dirty tho, so I mop it too lol...
ETA: and my hubby couldn't care less. In fact, he prefer I mop once a week with just water and no floor cleaner! [emoji27]

When someone gets up from the dinner table I want the chairs to be pushed in! I can't stand it if the chairs are sitting away from the table!

LeeAndra 09-28-2015 01:04 PM

Me too, Rachel! I can't stand drawers and doors not shut, either.

I absolutely have to have a fan and music/sound on when I fall asleep at night... otherwise i can't sleep lol

My dashboard is all a big mess, but a funny quirk about me is that it has some Norwegian labelled folders and some English labelled ones. I think in both so my screen is a big mix of it all.

Then I have about a billion other quirks ;)

I unload my groceries from the cart onto the conveyor belt at the check-out counter in some sort of order (the way I want them bagged, and the way I will be unloading them at home). I also start with the heaviest items first so that the bagger will put them into my cart first and not last, on top of the delicate items. For example, I put the milk first... then canned stuff, then boxed pantry items and then meats and cheese, then produce. Lastly, bread and eggs. It annoys me to no end when the bagger mixes everything and messes it up! LOL

LeeAndra 09-29-2015 06:23 PM

I do the same thing, Brooky!

This is also why I almost always do self checkout. :D

I am sure that I have lots of quirks. I just won't admit to any of them. ;) LOL Nah, I just can't think of them right now really.

At work I am SUPER organized. Everything has a place and MUST be in it... from my computer at work down to the smallest thing like where I put my keys when I come in. I can find anything in the dark and tell anyone where to find a document they need that is on my computer. This might not be a quirk if it was indicative of my nature. Far from it though. At home everything is the complete opposite. I lose my phone/keys/purse a few times a week. My desk is a mess. My computer hard drive is a big jumble of stuff thrown everywhere into random folders labeled 'crap to sort' and if I tried to find something in the dark I'd fall and break a leg. LOL I am also pretty quiet and reserved at work while at home I am loud and obnoxious. You know when you do those right/left brained quizzes? I always come out exactly in the middle. I am starting to think that my left brain takes over when I am at work and my right brain when I am at home.

I have a small little stuffed fish (a salmon to be exact) that I like to sleep with. My DH thinks I'm weird.... (but he really likes our fish too! ) :D :D

My mother always sleeps with the TV on. Otherwise she can't fall asleep!

cherrygutz 09-30-2015 03:41 AM

I do that too on my desktop, and even on my phone. On my desktop, I make sure that there are only three lines of folders and other computer related icons on it. If, say, I have to transfer photos from a usb onto my desktop, I make sub-folders in new folder (4). The same with my laptop if that's what I'm using outside the house. On my cellphone, it's the same, I make sure my selected games are in a folder, photo editors are in a folder, etc. My husband thought it was funny but for me it's so I know where to find them exactly. Oh, and I limit the (swiping?) to three only.

My grandma was this way. It drove me crazy as a child because I have to have it silent in order to sleep. I can fall asleep for a nap with noise, but not for bed time.

clearskies 10-01-2015 11:13 AM

I can't stand to have my hair touch my neck when I'm sleeping. I end up piling it all up above my head.

And I can't stand white cars. Don't know why, but it's been that way as long as I can remember.
