Totally off topic...

but I'm seriously considering dying my hair (at least part of it) a whacky color. I've got a hair color that's somewhere between dirty blonde and brunette. What color do you think would look best on me? I'm afraid I'd have to dye the rest black to make it look good, but my hair grows so insanely fast that I'd be going to get my roots done every few weeks and that would be a huge pain. Can you think of anything?

Something in this amount, so not a ton:

That is so cool!!! I might not go so 'black' with the black though and do maybe a more as you say brunette. I think a brunette with purple would be awesome!

I want to do some purple streaks in my hair for summer. My hair is ash blonde with a lot of grey in it. My son is a bit freaked out though that mommy won't look like herself!

black is so hard to do! I did it once.... my hair grows SLOW and I had to touch up the 'skunk line' every other week. I loved it, but was waaaaay to hard to upkeep. Any dark but vivid color looks great with black though. Red and Violet work really well with the darker blonde tone also.... if you wanted to go to a lighter blonde, pastels show up and look pretty awesome with it. and the only one I haven't tried is brunette with any color.... but in photos that I've seen I think dark blues and greens look good with it. I say if you're gonna go bold, pick your favorite color and work around it.... if you're gonna have fun you might as well love it :)

I'm really hesitant to dye the rest of my hair at all because of how fast it grows. I kid you not, it's insane.

This was in April of 2013

and this was April 2014 (though I admit it's hard to see where it ends. it ends (curly) at my shoulders and if pulled straight went passed by an inch or two

That is super fast growth Adrienne! I would go with purple streaks in an instant if I could but that wouldn't work for me at my job! If you can do it go for it!

I say go with streaks an d then maybe something on the r eddish/brunette side for the rest so when i t grows out it will sorta belnd :)

I'll have to see what my hubby says. There's a lady that works at the burger joint we frequent who has black hair with a dark green on the ends and I just adore it! She's what makes me want to try some crazy color, lol

I went totally crazy with like a purpleed color once. Here's the thing...it's not easy to go back to normal when you're sick of it.

This isn't a suggestion, but encouragement. :) My 13 year old daughter asked for rainbow hair on the bottom half of her hair. It looked awesome. It continued to look pretty for months. It's quite faded now, but still looks interesting!

Here's a photo I took of her the weekend after the dying, a windy day in the Shenandoah.

This might not work if you want to also dye it black, but they do have different temporary hair colors you can use (sprays, waxes, chalks, etc) to try out colors first.

Oh no, I actually don't want to dye the rest at all. If I did dye it, It'd be a slightly darker brown.

Neverland Scraps 03-29-2015 04:49 PM

:O I love it!! Do it, do it, do it!!! I've wanted to do that for years, but my husband forbids me to do it!! I'll live vicariously through you!! :D

Neverland Scraps 03-29-2015 04:53 PM

MichelePixels, I love your daughter's hair!!! I've seen pinterest photos of people I don't know, so it's exciting to see someone in our digi community having that look!! Its' beautiful and so is the Shenandoah Mountains!

oooh! I can't wait to see it! I've been getting purple in mine the last two times I've gone and I LURVE it!

adi&co. 03-30-2015 04:23 PM

Love it Laura! My appointment isn't until the end of April. The lady that's doing it is really good and that means she's always booked solid for a month, haha!

breakingbrie 03-30-2015 05:01 PM

Love that color you picked! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

MommaTrish 03-30-2015 05:37 PM

I did green on the undersides of my hair last summer and it was really only super noticeable when I had it pulled up (used Kool-Aid). I loved it... until it started fading and people kept saying my hair looked moldy. lol! I did pink on the ends of Bella's at the same time and it looked ADORABLE on her and it faded to light pink then just stayed for months. I ended up having to cut it short so that the pink was gone when she started school.

Oh that's cute Trish! I've never heard of dying hair with kool-aid! That's a fun idea for kids

nietis 03-31-2015 03:27 AM

It looks so cool! Sometimes, I want to do something like that, but with so much hair fall, I can't afford dying it and taking care of it :(
Can't wait to see how it looks on you, Adi!
