February 2019: Passport FAQ

If you have any questions regarding THIS month's Passport challenges, please post them here.

We have a wonderful team and community here at SSD....
so someone is sure to get back to you ASAP with answers to anything and everything related to our Passport Challenge System!

Here is a list of this month's challenge prompts for easy reference:

#1. One Little Word :
A word that describes you!

#2. Product :
Scrap with any of our teen inspired 13th Anniversary collabs that are releasing this month!

#3. Featured : Bobbie & Cheri
Our featured designer articles have been expanded since we started our alphabet inspired series, and are showcased on the blog each time a new designer goes into the spotlight. Your challenge is to use any solo product from either Bobbie or Cheri PLUS discover something from either Bobbie or Cheri's interviews this month to use as inspiration for a layout, be sure to tell us what inspired you in your gallery comments!

The following are a few ideas on how you may glean inspiration from a FD interview... Using this interview with Meg [featured in December] ... You might be inspired by the red and white cookie jars in her kitchen to scrap a red & white layout. Maybe you'd like to include the quote she shared “The Best Thing About Memories Is Making Them” on your page, maybe you were inspired by the letter “G” to scrap your own OLW starting with the letter G... or perhaps you might simply want to lift one of the layouts created by the Babes to show off the FD freebie. It’s totally up to YOU to decide how you'd want to be loosely inspired by one of our FD blog posts.

#4. Inspired By :
Search for the word “LOVE” on https://www.designspiration.net/ and scrap a layout inspired by something you find! Free yourself to use color inspiration, quote inspiration, typography inspiration, or recreate a photo you discover. Anything goes with this one, just have fun and get creative! Be sure to show us what inspired you and tell us a little about how you used the inspiration on your page in your tracker post.

#5. List :
"Brown paper packages tied up with string" ... show us a list of your 10 favourite things, be they big or small.

#6. Leaving Love :
Leave love on 15 layouts in the gallery and then post the link to each in your tracker thread.
Create your own place marker by using your favorite layout you've left love for during the month to "hold" that spot on your card ♥
Right click on a page in the gallery and save... follow by resizing this saved image to 97 X 97 before adding it to your Passport tracker image.

#7. Photography :
Challenge yourself to take a photo a day, and scrap them in a fun grid-style layout!

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...rsashbaugh.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ce-layout1.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ercalendar.jpg

#8. Quote :
Use the following quote on your page.
Love is meant to be an adventure -- Gordon B. Hinckley

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4818/...0f6f2b422c.jpg

#9. Seasonal :
February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Do something nice for someone & scrap about it!

#10. Typography :
Scrap with the lovely Sweet Pea font on one of your layouts this month!
Click on the image below to download the font and then use it on your page.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7917/...2ee838a450.jpg

#11. Wild Card :
Scrap anything you'd like for this challenge ♥

#12. Composition :
Create a layout which uses hearts in a subtle way. It’s a wonderful style to show love without being over the top heart valentine-y.

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...25_smaller.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...tSolo2_700.jpg

#13. Journal :
Journal within or around a shape of your choice.
If you're not sure how to create your own journal shape, we've got a fantastic Tutorial featured HERE.

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ildandfree.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...llenge-_51.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...f-Scotland.jpg

https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ne_gallery.jpg

#14. Currently :
Crushing on... a Person, Place or Thing

#15. Color :
Scrap with this month’s color swatch.
Your layout should be inspired by the colors featured in the swatch image posted below.
You don’t necessarily have to use all of the colors shown [use 2, or 3, or all 5], but it should be obvious that the page you've created was inspired by the swatch provided.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7876/...b0a2fac90c.jpg

#16. Rewind / Flashback :
Paper2Digi used to be one of our most popular challenges here at SSD!
This month we want you to lift this seriously scrumptious paper scrapbooking layout by Paige Evans.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7851/...bf091461_b.jpg

** Note -- Misty Cato's NEW Pinata Strips may be the perfect product to help inspire you! **

As an alternative, feel free to get creative with a variety of paper strips like this fun layout from Sugarbabe Holly to make this challenge work for you!
https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...giantK_web.jpg

#17. Scrap Stash :
Scrap with any Valentine’s or Love themed kit from the shoppe!

#18. Scraplift :
On the first Sunday of each month, Sugarbabe Kim B. will host an inspiring Scraplift Challenge on the SSD Blog.
You have the entire month to play along and complete your page.

To keep in mind while you're scrapping...
These prompts are written and created with fairly broad themes/concepts in mind and I think that personal interpretation is key. You can certainly approach a prompt literally, or I encourage you to think about it in a different way ... take a creative approach on ways to apply prompts so that they'll work for you and your family.

Can the photo a day be a specific event that spans a few days or week like a vacation or do we have to do this whole month? Judging from some examples posted - looks like we may have a choice?

You're free to do whichever you'd like ♥

Thank you!

Do we have to post each individual page somewhere (other than the gallery) or do we just post the completed passport with the thumbnails on it when we're done?

You do NOT have to post your completed pages anywhere other than the gallery. Your completed passport image is all you need to earn Sweet Rewards and be entered into our drawings for monthly prizes!

Be sure your tracker post has any relevant notations in it along with a list for leaving love, etc. This post from Kiana is the perfect example of what we're looking for each month...

Hope it helps!

Just checking, can a page done for the birthday games be used for the passport too if they fit the prompt?

rdjrneace 02-02-2019 06:11 AM

I just looked at new releases and I am not sure what #2. Product :
Scrap with any of our teen inspired 13th Anniversary collabs that are releasing this month! is? or are they releasing later in the month?

Those collabs are coming soon. So please look forward to them. :)

Great! As of next month I'll have 2 teens, so I can't wait for those collabs.

Oh dear, good luck--I already have two of them and I believe they are the source of my gray hair! :crying::blink::unsure:

I am fairly new to the challenges here. Does it have to be 100% SSD products or can we use templates, small bits from elsewhere?

That's a good question! With Bingo, we were able to use a few outside items and templates as long as it was mostly from SSD. But I went back to the Feb Passport post to grab that language to quote here, and it just says, "Using Sweet Shoppe products..." So do we need to use 100% SSD products now, or are we still allowed to use mostly SSD products?

Let me get back to you later after I verify this with the higher-ups.

Amber Dixon 02-03-2019 07:36 PM

This is my first time participating. Do I just put my layout in the gallery and add the link to it in my tracker thread, then add my 97x97 image of it to the passport graphic and when I'm all done I post the completed passport image in my tracker thread as well? I do not post an image of my actual layout in the tracker, correct?

What I do with mine is upload my layout in the gallery with the challenge number (mostly for me to know which one I've done!).

Then on our tracker, resize to 97x97 and paste the layout on to that tracker. Once completed, I upload the full-size graphic to Imgur and paste that in my tracker thread. I also upload the scaled down tracker in my gallery, where I link to all of my layouts for the month to prove that I've done it. I don't think that is necessary, but again, it's mostly just for me and my own sanity. This is what my tracker looks like in the gallery

The only thing I link back in the tracker thread is the commenting to prove that I've made my comments.

Thanks, Wendy for answering that question! You're awesome!

I'm just being lazy really but am wondering if anyone might have suggestions for kits that fit the colour challenge?

Okay, ladies, here is the answer I have got from Robin herself:
Pages should be created so that they are OBVIOUSLY made with our products, but like always, small touches / outside templates from places other than SSD are absolutely fine.

Any hint on when the "teen inspired collabs" will be released?

Does the photography challenge have to be new photos (from this week) or can it be a project life type layout from a couple of weeks ago?

I also just wanted to note that your series of photos don't need to be recent... they can be from this week, last month, last year.

Thank you, I'm a bit behind on my project life so will do a catch up and use it for this challenge.

you can write it out or whatever you want as long as it's incorporated on to your page somehow.

Last month I made a journal card with the quote and inserted it on my pocket page. Still haven't done this month though :(

This is a big help, Robin!!
I keep track of my LO links because it helps me, but it helps me keep organized. It's good to know that I don't have to post them here.

Thanks for the great example, Kiana!!

I think I'm missing something (hopefully!) but I'm having trouble commenting on anyone's gallery layouts! Is it because I'm so new? Or is there something obvious that I'm missing?

quite possibly because you are new. I noticed that you just posted in the new forum thread--that will be good for you because Libby or another staff member can change your settings so that you are able to take full advantage of the site! Welcome to SSD!

It's a spam protection thing. If you get your post count up to 10 by commenting in the forum, you should then be able to comment in the gallery.

Phew! Thank you!

Does #9 (the act of kindness) need to be something new that you've done for this challenge? I like to think I do nice things for people all the time but I certainly don't take photos of them! I have some great photos of my kids at a charity event a couple of years ago... can I use them?
