I just finished reading The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. I thought is was an excellent book, although it's pretty sad.

I read a lot of pregnancy and parenting books this year, not a lot of fiction. But, of the books I read The Wonder Weeks and Nurture Shock are at the top of my list. I’m children’s books, I love B is for Bedtime, and I Love You Animally :p

noteworthy books from 2017:

I read the trio of March graphic novels by John Lewis with my 11 year old son and found them to be such a terrific way to experience the Biography genre for middle age/teen readers. We both loved them and I especially loved the dialogue the series inspired within him.

I read about half as much as I normally do in 2017.
I was shocked to discover looking back through my list, that I hadn't read any Historical Fiction titles all year - which must be a first for me!!

I'm hoping to read about 65 titles in 2018.

Here are a couple of my faves...

This one was soooo great! Set in Iceland about the last woman executed there for murder. Did she do it? Did she not? Awesome historical fictionalized account of a real crime.

Love Douglas Preston's non-fiction books (Monster of Florence was excellent too) This one was perfection in terms of archaeological adventure. Soooo good!

The Southern Reach Triology is being made into a movie with Natalie Portman but I read the series before all of that. Super weird sci-fi that will leave you scratching your head because of the bizarre stuff happening, but overall, immediately readable and captivating.

Also currently working on...

Don't want to give any spoilers, but this is not at all what I was expecting and it's super interesting and fantastical.

The Southern Reach Triology has been on my to-beead list for more than a year now... might have to make the plunge this year!

I don't know if I read a single book in 2017. Sad. 2017 was not my favourite year for so many reasons but I already have a nice stack of books I'm planning on for this year!

I know I'm probably late to the game on this one (no pun intended) , but my favorite book of the year was definitely Ready Player One. I listened to a lot of it in the car (Wil Wheaton narrated) and it was fabulous.

I also loved the third book in The Great Library series:

And I finished The Others (which is one of the best series I have read in a loooong time):

I completed my (non workelated) reading challenge of 52 books, but just barely. I set the same goal this year and am hoping to come in above it. :)

I stalled on book 3 of The Others [I loved the first book]... I should pick this series back up.

I always loved that there were so many other book lovers here :) Here are a couple of my favorites from this year. They were all awesome.

These three were dystopian

This was my favorite book of 2017:

At Home in this Life is about embracing the life you have instead of wishing you had a different life, and it really hit me where I was at this year.

Before We Were Yours was my favorite fiction:

Also, I read the Hunger Games Trilogy for the fourth time, and man, I love those books!

Thanks, I've added a bunch of these to my toead list.

Some of my favorites from this year...

Read this one with my son and we both found it sweet, funny and poignant.

Gorgeously compelling interlinking tales connected by music. Highly recommend doing the audiobook on this one.

https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1...l/32075671.jpg

Hard topics, important topics. Read this one with my soon-to-be teenager and we were both deeply connected to the characters. It also proved to be a good jumping off point for discussing contemporary social justice issues.

This one is darker than Backman's other books, but I still loved it.
