Trivial Tuesday - Nov 28

When's the last time you were on a plane?

I leave today for a work conference in Vancouver - a quick jump over the mountains (90 minute flight). Prior to that I took my girls to Arizona to visit my mom and her hubby back in April.

The last time I flew was Oct 2022. I flew in to Philly to see my daughter who was living in Wilmington, DE at the time. I love flying. I have been doing it alone since I was 7.

Last month. We went to Shanghai for a holiday. It was around 90 minutes flight. Our outbound flight was so full of turbulences, it was terrible. The inbound was so much nicer.

laurabobaura 11-28-2023 09:37 AM

we took a quick flight to Missouri to see my BIL family a few months ago

before that would have been Aruba <3

October, from O'Hare to Denver. Then on a puddle jumper from Moab to Denver and a bigger plane back to O'Hare.

I honestly don't mind flying, hubby, on the other hand, despises it! He was in the middle seat going and coming back home on our recent trip. I told him I'd change seats (I was by the window), but he refused. He was squished and, on both flights, the person sitting in the aisle seat moved around a ton ... so he was constantly getting bumped.

We just booked flights our to NYC for next year ... 1st class. Hubby says if he's flying he's not putting up with the "BS" again - lol. I'm all for that! Ha ha!

The family and I flew to Phoenix in March 2023 for a soccer tournament. The next time will be in March 2024 to Dallas for another soccer tournament.

I expect mine will be the opposite - flying into Calgary (home-ish) is always bumpy. We get back Friday and land about 7 pm, and I'm another hour's drive to home ... it'll be a long few days but it's usually pretty fun!

I'm also near Chicago :)

I've taken my son to and from the airport when he came to visit, does that count? I'm sad to say I haven't been on a plane since before the pandemic.

LJSDesigns 11-28-2023 12:56 PM

Last time was when we went to Disney in March. Instead of driving to Chicago, we flew out of South Bend to Atlanta and then to Orlando.

My most recent flight was coming home from Texas in June of this year after helping my friend and her husband move there.

StacyLynn 11-28-2023 03:14 PM

September and April both this year and both to Nashville, TN

But until 2022, we did not fly anywhere for since 1999.... too many kiddos and too expensive...lol

Indeed. it's always been too expensive and we haven't taken trips far enough that we couldn't drive

One day I hope to take a plane somewhere.

laurabobaura 11-28-2023 04:54 PM

Kiana- when you do, you'll definitely have to scrap about it!

stormchaser 11-28-2023 04:54 PM

Last week for Thanksgiving I flew out to see my parents in Georgia the closest airport to them is Jacksonville Florida. It's a long flight but no problems. My husband travels a lot so we sometimes tag along for fun. We fly so frequently we have favorite airports lol.

My oldest and I went to Vegas in February for a huge archery tournament. I worried about the weather for months (flying out of MI in winter) but all went great. We flew with friends too so that made it more fun!

joelsgirl 11-28-2023 09:11 PM

I flew to Jakarta on Sunday, and we’re flying back to the Philippines tonight. I hate flying, but when you live in an island, you don’t really have a choice.

3BluEyedBabi 11-28-2023 09:28 PM

I have only been on a place once, and I hated it. That was in 2013. Probably never again!

MamaBee 11-28-2023 11:04 PM

Not since February 2020... we bought a camper to vacation in or we have been doing road trips. Hubby wants to fly this winter... last winter, my parents, Jake and I drove to Florida and hubby flew in to meet us.

aussiegirl 11-29-2023 07:52 PM

With one daughter away to College in CA, we have flown a LOT in the last few years, ever since 2020!

Last time I flew was in April 2023. But my husband and the CA college girl flew her out to school in Sept 2023. Our next flight is May 2024.

Before 2020, our girls had never flown before (minus one who's first flight was a Missions trip to Uruguay). Since then, they have flown in 2021, 2022, 2023, and will fly again in 2024. We are planning a cruise out of FL for 2025, so our big decision now, is should we fly down for the cruise or drive, which is what we have usually done to FL!

littlekiwi 11-29-2023 09:34 PM

It would have to be pre pandemic honestly - I used to travel for job interviews but now I do virtual ones if I can to save money cause last minute flights are expensive here especially if you are going where only one airline goes

rach3975 11-30-2023 10:10 PM

April and August 2022. We tend to fly once every 3 or so years, so the fact that I flew twice in 2022 is very unusual. In April all 5 of us went to Puerto Rico for one last big trip before my oldest started college and family trips got harder. In August my middle son and I went to Dallas, TX for a conference about his genetic disorder.

AmieN1 11-30-2023 11:19 PM

Last flight was last January I think to Vegas for a softball tourney (we are going to that tournament again- so will fly again to Vegas this January!) Most of our traveling for hockey & softball is all drivable.

My inlaws are taking us to Hawaii for Christmas this year- so we'll fly for that- SOOOO Excited!!! My hubby & kids have never been and I haven't since I was a little girl- like maybe 8 or 9 and we lived there for about a year!

LynnZant 11-30-2023 11:45 PM

I'm also pre pandemic. New York was the last plane ride.

lovely1m 12-01-2023 02:59 PM

In April, I went to Ohio to help out a friend after surgery. The flight home was awful, kept getting delayed and delayed and delayed before it got canceled. Then I was changed flights a few times and more delays on the changes. I finally got home like 13 hours later than I was supposed to be home.
