Printer/scanner Recomendations

My computer just died in a blaze of glory, so I am also going to replace my printer too. My current printer prints out nice photos, but the scanner portion STINKS. (Dell 924 All in One)

Do you all have any printer recommendations? I want good quality photo printing and scanner capability. I would also like for it to have cheap ink/toner. I also print a lot of grocery lists and homeschool worksheets. They don't have to be of perfect quality.

Any ideas?

I will be watching this thread! I have been online comparing printer/scanner combos for the last hour or so. I am so confused and just need someone to tell me which one to get! LOL

I like HP for printers, so I would go with a HP one.

I don't like combo's.
I love my Epson printer.

From what I've heard, Kodak has the cheapest ink and remember, when comparing the cost of ink cartridges, look at the page yield as well. I haven't bought a new printer yet but I after doing a lot of research I am leaning towards a Kodak printer.

Okay, went and talk to the geeks at Best Buy.........I told them I wanted to print pictures and have great quality of prints and scans. I also wanted a wireless connection. I didn't have a concern with speed of printing due to not doing more than a couple pages at a time when I do print. I told them another concern is ink usage and cost.

They lead me to this......

Regularly $199 but on sale this week for $149 in my area. It came with all the inks. :)

I like the look of that printer, Tara, so I decided to look how much it is in Canada and I am amazed that it is less than in the States. That never happens. Anyways, I did a little research on how long the ink cartridges last and it doesn't look good. Looks like the black cartridge is supposed to get 450 pages but often starts running out after 50 (!!) pages or so. What a shame. See the reviews of the cartridges here.

Oh no! It is a small cartridge. I think there may be a larger one you can buy that is compatible but I didn't look at that tonight. We shall see. I don't do a TON of printing so I don't know if I will mind that so much. I believe the black cartridge cost around $10-12 here depending on where you go.

I hope you get a huge cartridge for $10-12. My Epson printers carts are that much and last me close to 6 months usually.
