Buying a new house

The 5th we close on our house :) we are moving to a new state but its only 3 and half hours away from where I am living now!. I'm excited nervous and just overwhelmed. My just turned 5 year old does not want to move; she doesnt want to move and leave her friends,(preschool) house, and grandmother ( well the list keeps getting bigger). Anyways I really hope I get to get online this weekend and see all the goodies.

Good luck with the move!

How exciting! I’m sorry your LO doesn’t want to move, but children are so resilient. I’m sure she’ll come around.

We’ve started the home buying process and it’s SO overwhelming! It must feel amazing to be on the other side!

We moved once when my boys were 2 & 4 from an apartment where their only play place was the parking lot to a condo on the beach with a playground...and my kids talked about all the toys they used to have in the other apartment, like we left anything there. And when we moved to the Philippines from Malaysia when the boys were 5 & 7 and they went from a Chinese school to an American school, I thought they'd be so happy, but they talked about their "real" {Chinese} school like it was the greatest thing that ever happened to them. I think change is just hard, especially when you're little, even if it is a good change.

I hope you all love your new life!

Similar experience to Kellie-- We moved from base housing in Illinois to our "forever home" in South Carolina and my kids **always** talked about how much they liked our house in Illinois more. Our SC house is much bigger and just more "home-like", with a big backyard, we don't have to share a wall with our neighbor, there's a pool in the neighborhood, etc. but all they said was that they missed Illinois! We found that the solution to this was to move again to Turkmenistan....now our kids can't wait to get back home to South Carolina, hahaha.

Anyway, Facetime/Skype are great for still "hanging out" with grandparents. And my daughter has a couple friends whose moms got the Marco Polo app so they could send each other quick video messages (so much easier than scheduling Facetime with our time difference).

My son’s were 16+ when we moved and it took my youngest almost a year to like the new house ((10 minutes from our old house). But they’ll adapt.
It is hard to hear how unhappy they are. Hope you still manage to get online this weekend. Enjoy your new house!

Good luck! Moving is very stressful but little ones adapt really well, you just need to give her time and talk about her feelings a lot and it should be pretty smooth.

As far as moving, it's hard for the littles to move but I can tell you with the amount of moving we do, at that age, they are resilient and bounce back pretty quickly! It's when they get older that it's harder on them.

I'll be thinking of you while you make your move and unpack!!
