Sweet Shoppe Community - I think my heart rate is finally back to normal....

Holy cow.... I'd take yesterday's 10 hour shift any day compared to what happened today at the gym!
On Sundays there is only one person on the desk, which makes it challenging to go to the bathroom, do laundry, etc.... I have to take quick breaks when I can to get those things done. Well this morning, I ran down the hall to switch out the towels and go to the bathroom... as I was washing my hands, a member came running in to tell me that there was someone out front having a seizure! I called 911 immediately from the ladies room and then went running out. A guy had gotten off of a bike and collapsed, then started seizing. Another member had grabbed the electronic defibrillator (thankfully she's an EMT) and she and another member were with the guy. He had stopped convulsing, but they couldn't find a pulse at first, and he was unconscious. So friggin' scary! Thankfully the rescue was there within less than 5 minutes, although it SEEMED like 15. He was conscious and responsive when they left with him; the EMT thought that it was likely a diabetic reaction because he was pretty agitated and uncooperative when he left... trying to get off the stretcher, etc.

OMG... this is why I am not an ER nurse like my sister... I could not handle it.
The manager came in to check on things and told me that someday he is going to replay my voice mail message to me... apparently I was just a bit hysterical. :crying:
