So...how's that weather treatin' ya?

Because let me tell ya, it's downright CHILLY here on Maui!!! For reals. I mean, I've been {sneaking} getting up at night after Joel (DH) falls asleep and closing all the windows because I'm FREEZING!! And I even had to sleep with a real live BLANKET on top of the sheets on the bed for the past few weeks!

Now for some reason, when I tell friends/family on the mainland this, they either (A) roll their eyes at me (because I can actually HEAR that over the phone / e-mail ya know) and tell me to stop being such a weenie or (B) roll their eyes at me and tell me to stop being such a liar. Now, I'll admit...living on Maui for the past 7 years has made me a bit of a weather weenie. But I'm not alone in my belief that it's been chilly and I'm definitely NOT a liar. But don't take my word for it. See for yourself....

See there? Right THERE on our OFFICIAL weather forecast for last week...there it is...the word "chilly" splashed across MORE THAN ONE day...plain as can be - for ALL of you to witness - and see those temps?? CRAZY I tell ya!! How am I supposed to enjoy a day at the beach with high temps of only 78 or 79 degrees??? What's up with that? I TOLD you people it's been cold!!!!

:p

(Sorry, I really couldn't resist...)

Milmomma 02-02-2010 03:10 AM

Okay up until Sept of last year I would've agreed with you. I got use to my desert weather. Now its a high of maybe 32F. Ummmm can I have 78 please? :p

breakingbrie 02-02-2010 03:25 AM

I can totally do that kind of chilly! I'd love some of that right about now...

nonnie 02-02-2010 09:15 AM

Umm...yeah. It's one degree here right now at 10 in the morning....ONE!

kresta 02-02-2010 10:04 AM

Hahaha! That's great! Almost like me complaining about my Florida weather, although we really have had a cold winter. :)

FireWolf 02-02-2010 10:05 AM

Having just wondered in from the 2 block walk to the mailbox in the extremely wet, snowy, windy, 36 degree world of Jabeek, Holland....I don't think I like you very much right now. LOL I HATE the cold...I'll take your kind of chilly any day of the year.

newfiemountiewife 02-02-2010 10:06 AM

I hate you people :p

It's 15F here right now, 1F with the windchill. :cursing:

Stacey42 02-02-2010 10:16 AM

I'ts 28 degrees here & we are expecting 1-3 inches of snow or maybe sleet this afternoon

scrap2day 02-02-2010 10:30 AM

Went to the zoo last weekend. It was 25.

nesser1981 02-02-2010 10:40 AM

Well, that was just rude wasn't it. LOL!

24 degrees here.

Sharon Kay 02-02-2010 10:41 AM

I would LOVE to have that weather just about 90% of the year!! I'm at the brrr level ... I like mid 70's as my ultimate love of weather...as long as the allergies don't kick in.

Thats pretty funny! I'm from south Texas and would love some of those temps right about now! And sun, I'd love to see what the sun looks like.

kscwgirl 02-02-2010 11:07 AM

I'll take that chilly, please. You're a brat Jen. :p

DawnMarch 02-02-2010 11:15 AM

It's been "chilly" here in AZ this winter too!

nietis 02-02-2010 11:18 AM

It's been wet with rain here :(

Gemma 02-02-2010 11:32 AM

Wet & cold. But that's my kind of weather.

At the moment, according to the weather forecast it's 3 degrees Celsius here, and it's 3.30pm!!

~Julie~ 02-02-2010 11:46 AM

Poor Jen ;) It is 30 here right now... They are forecasting snow this weekend.

Leila 02-02-2010 11:52 AM

Big Ditto to this! I don't complain AZ weather, I get eye rolls!

JenTapler 02-02-2010 03:09 PM

Whoa. Whoa. What's with all the haters??? LOL!!!!!

hee hee. You know I really can't help myself this time of year. Especially when I lived most of my life "back home" where Stacy hails from - what is now the frozen tundra of Oklahoma. Man am I glad I escaped those winters!! There's NO WAY I could survive that crap now!!!

OK, well, I gotta go...even though it's only going to be a chilly 79 degrees today, I'm going to brave the cold and head out for a brisk walk on the beach....see ya suckers!!! :p

JenTapler 02-02-2010 03:10 PM

Ok, sorry. That was just uncalled for I know. But you guys asked for it. Really you did.... ;)

Sheana 02-02-2010 03:22 PM

LOL! That's my kind of chilly weather! It's 38F here today and it feels rather warm!! :D

jessica31876 02-02-2010 03:38 PM

its been rainy here in Orlando. Its been chilly here too but today feels pretty nice. When our temps are over 90 degrees for a good part of the year and the temps suddenly drop 30/40/50 degrees overnight that is pretty darn cold. I know its not like some people up north deal with but I guarantee if they moved to FLorida and felt what Florida's winter is actually like they'd be cold after a year or two

WalkersMommy 02-02-2010 04:00 PM

OMG. I need to move to Hawaii lol.

Kiki 02-02-2010 05:26 PM

Well tonight we get to go down to a balmy 6.8 degrees...Oh yay!

rach3975 02-02-2010 05:59 PM

I think this thread may have been a call for help--poor Jen is lonely there in chilly Hawaii. What kind of friends would we be if we didn't immediately head out there to keep her company?

It's warm today compared to what it's been here lately. 39 right now, at 5 pm. More snow this weekend, I think.

SmallMoments 02-02-2010 06:01 PM

Good golly, Jen! I was pretty excited about the 31* we had this afternoon until I read this! lol

I like your thinking Rachel!!! I think you're right...I'm probably feeling extra bratty because of all the "oh, let's get together for a crop" posts I keep seeing popping up in the forum. :p Now THAT is bratty!!! I'm pretty sure I'm the only Hawaii girl here....it does get lonely in paradise!!! LOL.

scrap2day 02-02-2010 07:43 PM

Oh sure, you may get that leg toning from walking in sand. But I get to practice my sense of balance by hitting patches of ice when I'm walking.

aggiefamily 02-02-2010 08:09 PM

I will take the chilly weather. I will take 30 degrees as long as I can get some sun. I need some sun.

Well, if it gets that lonely, you can always come back here!

Uhhh, no thanks!! Not this time of year anyway!!

But Stacy, we *might* be planning a trip to Wichita to visit Joel's family in May (my family is all here now) and of course, that means we'll have to spend at least a few days down visiting all our old hang-outs in Norman. If so, we'll have to plan a coffee date or something!! I'll let you know!
