I am trying to be a little more active here in the forum (rather than just shopping and lurking) Ha ha! I am very used to another forum and I'm wondering if you guys can help me with the tricks of keeping up with new posts here.

1) I found the "New Posts" button, so I can see the threads with new replies, but how do I get it to take me to the new replies when I click on a thread? When I click on a thread it takes me to the beginning of the thread, or I can click on the last page, but it still takes me to the top of that last page and then I have to scroll down to find the new posts... am I missing an easier way?

2) I'm not getting any emails or notifications when someone quotes my posts... is that a setting in my user profile that I'm missing?

Yup I know where you visit most often during your day.

SSD is run on the vBulletin forums so you won't find some of those same things you're used to in the same way.

New Posts button is all new posts since your last visit, but when you go to that thread it won't automatically take you to the last posted. You can switch that around under the "User CP" section which is in your top header to the left of New Posts (it's first in that line)

If you go there and then go to Edit Options

From there you will get the options to SUBSCRIBE and Get Emails

and scrolling down to Thread Display you can change that to show NEWEST FIRST if you want, it's defaulted at Oldest First.


There is also another way to get to the end if you're on the New Posts page.
When you see the threads listed, you will see to the right, the last person who posted in that thread. Next to that is a small arrow and it will take you right to that post.

See the little blue arrow next to the thread title? Hover over it and see what it says... It takes you to the newest post in the thread since you last viewed it.

I don't use new posts since I don't read every thread in every forum. I don't even look at some forums. So when I open a forum I just click on the blue arrow next to the title of the thread to go to the newest post.

I just click new posts and then the blue arrows on the threads I want to read. That takes you to the first unread post. I don't change any of the forum default settings.

I didn't know about the blue arrow either! I've had my settings set to take me to unread posts for years, but for the last few days it hasn't been working right and I see the original post first. I'll have to check if anything got changed with an update or something.

I live by the blue arrow!
However I do like the other option to go to the first post because of the challenge threads. I pretty much always want the first post in that forum.
