The perfect photo - ruined

I was outside photographing wearing my bright pink shoes and a yellow butterfly landed on my shoe. But even though I was holding the camera I couldn't snap a photo fast enough before my cat had scared it away. :crying: Really bummed right now.

What perfect photos have you had ruined by someone or something?

Aww... that would have been cool to see!

usually it's a moving kid.... he moves right when I'm taking the photo and then it's blurry. So I have him "recreate" it and it's never the same...he gets that from my mom... she always moves right when taking her photo. :)

When my kids are having a perfectly photogenic moment laughing and smiling, and I grab my camera... and then turn it on... and look up to take the picture and the moment is gone. So, I try to make them do it again, say "smile!" and I get these stiff fake smiles from them. Hate that! Happens all the time.

The kids are my biggest culprit, especially my 10 year old. If he notices me trying to take a picture, he turns, runs, or ducks to avoid it. (He's slightly more cooperative if I ask first, but then I get the grimace that is his Ieally-don't-want-to-smile-but-I'll-try-to-fake-it smile.)

Actually, I had quite the opposite experience - talking of butterflies, I mean.
I was hiking in the Alps when a butterfly decided to sit on my shoe - the very shoe that was stomping hard as I was walking down a steep little trail. But little ol' butterfly just kept sitting on my shoe for like 10 mins. or so. I even have a picture of that, though that was before I was attacked by like half a dozen cows ...

Well my son is the opposite of Barney Stinson, no matter how many pics I take I swear his eyes are closed 95% of the time!!!

One of my animals usually photo bombs a good candid moment, so I have a hard time between the two trying to get unplanned moments!!

To get photos of my kids sitting properly in their pretty outfit (usually for a special occasion or Christmas), I bribe them with snacks. My mom, who gets most of these photos, asks why their expressions are always the same. Well, that's because their cheeks were stuffed full with goldfish crackers! Other than that, the photos usually turn out pretty well.

Had something happen today. Two osprey took on an eagle and I could have photographed that if only id brought my camera.

My girls are really into posing in front of everything they think is cool right now 'to show my kids when I have them' lol, is what they say. <--they're on this weird kick planning how it's going to be when they're older and have kids of their own.

So we took a little trip yesterday, and I snapped this of the girls - right when Cait saw a little bug :D I totally love this though, so I can't really say it's ruined...

lol, This ^^

But Chloe's been worse than normal lately with this identical plastered on smile in every pic. Found out tonight she just has 2 loose teeth, one on top and one on bottom and when she smiles they mash together weird  Can't wait til one falls out!

I always have the perfect moment and then right as I go to take the pic, whichever kid it is moves just out of my focus so their eyes are blurry and I've either focused on their nose or their ears.

fifilur 04-22-2014 03:41 AM

I know exactly what you guys are talking about with moving kids and fake smiles. I so wish kiddo was more cooperative. ;)

fifilur 04-22-2014 04:10 AM

This is his fake "smiling for the camera" smile, lol.

LOL, that's actually a cute smile! But I'm sure his natural smile is even cuter!

This. They get better with age... but still happens.

I learned that I take pictures of them making silly faces or acting weird... and then I get actual smiles, or laughter. So... it may be posed but the smiles are real.

adi&co. 04-22-2014 12:32 PM

when I can't get my kids to look at the camera and smile, I tell them NOT to look at the camera and then make goofy noises until they look and smile, haha
