Are you sending holiday cards?

For whatever reason, I can't seem to get any inspiration for my holiday card this year. I know I want to make one, but I'm kind of at a loss for what exactly to do. If you've done one, please feel free to share your design!

We've taken our family photos already. I don't feel like creating a card, so we are going to print some of the photos and include them in store-bought cards.

JennNtheBoys 12-01-2018 02:02 PM

I never send cards.... I used to love making them, but then I'd never send them. Then I started taking family photos to create digital cards and I'd make them, print them, and always forget to give them, so i just don't bother anymore. :S

kc33558 12-01-2018 02:12 PM

I do, I get them made by Persnickety Prints now. Affordable. I used to love making my own cards but my sending list has gotten out of hand and I can't make them handmade anymore. So then I thought, OK, I will have professional pics taken and send cards like that. Get the tripod out and pick a good dress up day, like for a wedding, and take your own pics. Better, for real family pics that everyone will enjoy when they receive. I do believe in still sending cards, I LOVE getting cards and knowing someone thought of us to send them. But as far as your own cards, make it easier and with less of the high holiday standards stuff and you will get a quality card you will love!

I used to love making holiday cards, but I realized I was spending time doing that when I could have been making homemade gifts or scrapbook pages. So now I do a few printed photos in a regular paper card.

I did these. Ordered and unfortunately they say it was delivered but I didn't get them. Just gonna order back ups from wally world

I made ours today. I need to finalise it tomorrow and then I'm ready to order.

I'm still working on my family card, we do a photo collage on one side and an infographic about our year on the other side - our highlights, favorites, announcements, etc.

But, I did manage to finish my business Christmas card

I haven't sent out cards in a few years. :/

rach3975 12-01-2018 06:18 PM

I've stopped doing cards, too. We only get a handful each year--a lot of people I know stopped doing them.

kristalund 12-02-2018 10:04 AM

I send out cards still! I purchase from Tiny Prints. I haven't done them yet this year. I will bribe my Kids with an Icee to get them to take a photo for me ;) Tis the Season! LOL

Leablahblah 12-02-2018 07:47 PM

I always have a hard time with the price of cards so I usually just print them on photo paper but in matte and then mail them.

I haven't thought of the design yet. We had photos done not long ago but it was just the girls and me so I need to get the tripod out and convince the whole family for a photo.

SeattleSheri 12-02-2018 07:58 PM

Karli and Ashley, thanks for sharing your cards, they are sooooo cute! I love them!

We still get about 40 cards (we usually give out ~75). Last year it seemed to be the biggest drop off. I'm going to make a card, but I think I might send fewer and just share on social media for the masses. It makes me sad that they are a dying breed.

karlimarie 12-02-2018 10:47 PM

I totally agree Sheri, it makes me sad too! I save all the holiday cards I get in keepsake boxes.

The price is always an concern, but there are great deals to be had. I found a Groupon at Staples for $8 for 25 cards. They had them printed in 24 hours at my local store and pickup was free.

Finally finished our family card!

I actually made some this year! They’re from a local pro print shop that has hundreds of beautiful designs. I have matching envelopes with our return address. Hopefully that helps me get them out on time ha!

Oh these cards are lovely, ladies!!
We might not have our cards this year. It's super pricey to print and post from here, so DH does not want to go through the trouble :(

3BluEyedBabi 12-03-2018 10:39 AM

I usually do send a few cards and also give family the photocards from the photo place we get the kids' pics taken at or a handmade one printed from shutterfly or I've even done ones from walmart online that came out beautiful. I think sending cards is definitely not something most people do anymore. I do love receiving them too. My grandmother and I used to write letters in pretty cards to each other when I was in college....really miss that!

craftytam 12-03-2018 11:42 AM

All of the cards posted are beautiful!!

We haven't done holiday cards in years. I was thinking about doing them this year because we live away from family & friends now. But, we don't have any good family photos to use, so we'd have to do that first.
I guess we'll see. The longer I put it off, the less likely it is to happen :D
Maybe I'll just do the social media thing again.

Saar 12-03-2018 12:04 PM

I'm loving your card ladies!
I just ordered mine.

AmieN1 12-03-2018 12:45 PM

I did mine through Shutterfly this year with a SUPER great coupon! I just got them addressed & mailed! Phew! I send about 80 still! I think there's just something about getting a REAL card & HAND addressing that is so wonderful around the Holiday season. Here's our card this year:

Sorry for the delayed response, I was traveling for work all week! I adore all of your cards, thank you so much for sharing!!!!

Yep, every year. :)

hwong 12-11-2018 03:44 AM

I do! I love Christmas/holiday cards! (perhaps it came from working at Hallmark for 10+ years!) I design the cards myself (this year with the help of Brook Magee's awesome Halloween template -minus the bat).
I've used several different sites to print them. I like Costco's price but their quality has really gone downhill at our local warehouse. Last year I discovered Amazon Prints and was pleasantly surprised so I'm giving them a go again this year.

I also design cards for my friends. It's fun to put their personality into the cards. One friend has me create a Seahawk themed Christmas card every year. I'm forever grateful to Misty Cato's "Big Game" super bowl kit from way back - I've used every element in that kit ;)

Here's our family card for this season (Melissa Bennett's "A Farmhouse Christmas" kit.

biancka 12-11-2018 04:54 AM

Yes......allthough photo cards aren't a thing over here in The Netherlands. Not as much as in the US anyway. I just buy my christmas cards and then send them out. I do have to say that we used to send out at least 80 cards but that has been reduced down to 30. I noticed we were getting less and less cards so we decided to not send cards to the people who were not sending cards out anymore either. I have to say that sending out christmas cards has become very expensive over here. You can get the cards pretty cheap but postage is ridiculous these days which is sad because I love receiving cards during the holidays but I just can't afford spending $100 on christmas cards only.

lovely1m 12-15-2018 11:54 AM

A couple years ago, I started just picking a Shutterfly template instead of designing my own. I've been happy with the ones I've use and it's less stressful.
