2019 Project Life - Week One

alrighty!!

this is the first time in 4 years that I've attempted this project and am happy to have my templates selected and absolutely elated to have my 1st week done!! i truly love the simplicity of these templates from Janet and the little painted bits and cards in Amanda's new monthly series were the perfect additions for this spread. i must admit that this is a HUUUUGE departure from my usual style, i'm not sure that i've ever completed a page without shadows before, but i'm really hoping that having it all stripped down will make things easier to complete and help to keep me current and up to date. i'm working well beyond my comfort zone with these and am still holding my breath and hoping i love them in the end. in past years i also really faltered with my weekly journaling efforts, so will have to see how long i can keep that part up. i added photos and journaling notes all throughout the week, which made it all feel pretty effortless overall. i'm curious how the rest of you work. do you save it all till the end of the week? or do you chip away at it all week long?

Sooooo.... how is everyone getting along? Do you have a plan? Where are you at? I'd love to see your pages/spreads, so please be sure to share!

I try to get my page done at the end of each week (when I'm not behind, that is.) I like to have all the info and photos before I start so I know exactly what I need to do. I keep my weekly pages super simple too... but I don't think I'd ever be able to leave out the shadows! lol

I love your result... I think it works without the shadows because there are no gaps between each card. Shadows may actually look odd in there.

These are gorgeous pages! I love the simple look, but I can’t seem to ever accomplish it, lol! I like to chip away at my PL layout all week long, because I find that my journaling is better this way, but I do t always manage to do this. I do make it a priority to get templates picked and journaling done each week though, even if I haven’t selected photos or kit yet.

This looks fantastic!
I don't have a plan in place I am just continuing journaling daily and taking photos (keeping them organized). Soon I will tackle past years and GET ER DONE!

Great job! I’m so excited to jump in, but I keep getting caught up on details and I’m having trouble committing to one style for a whole year!!

Sitting down to finish mine right now :) I collect photos and notes all throughout the week and then scrap all at once. I'll share mine here!

Great pages! I agree that the simpler pages are much more realistic to stay current on, but I struggle to hit that balance between simple enough to be fast and embellished enough to be fun for me to make and look back at. I've arrived at a level that I guess works for me...it's not as fast as I'd like, but it's probably the most basic I can be happy with long term. I've completed 5 years of PL and am starting my 6th, so I'm worried I'd get bored and not want to work on it if I went too simple.

I journal throughout the week, but I don't even try to work on a week until it's over. Even if I was current, I need to see all my photos in order to decide which to use and how big to make each one.

They look great Loni! Keep it up! It is so hard not to shadow isn't it?! I did PL 2017 very simple and unshadowed.

My process is to wait until the week is finished and then try and scrap the week on Sunday nights. Sometimes it gets done and sometimes it doesn't!

What a great feeling to have a week finished and be "all caught up"! ;) I am going to do 4 pages at the end of each month.

This is my plan this year... I've been getting sick of the traditional style, so I'm busting out. :) I'm excited about it... two pages with journaling and then two pages of just photos. I want to capture more everyday things... what are we watching, listening to, reading... news articles, facebook postings, etc.

I am determined to get this album finished this year so I'm hoping you ladies can keep me accountable. My pages are pretty basic and very photo heavy but I need them to be simple to keep up with it. This is my week 1.

so what board games did you play, Allyson?? my family are huge board gamers!

marlathrall 01-17-2019 02:40 PM

This makes me want to get started on 2019! But I've been focusing on knocking 2018 out! Haha.

Can I manage to stay current and work on the backlog? That is a real question!

marlathrall 01-21-2019 03:13 PM

I'm changing up my 2019 look a little bit! Hoping to focus on keeping it simple with minimal elements! I think changing out the background paper will keep it fresh and fun without worrying about additional elements?! I don't know, but I like the new look after using the same exact templates for four years! Ha.
