Creative Goals: 2014

Do you have anything you want to learn how to do in the new year? Or a new hobby you are hoping to pick up?

I'm wanting to learn more with pottery and wanting to teach myself watercolor :)

Jengerbread88 12-10-2013 02:52 PM

I've been saying for years I want to learn to knit, but I don't know if this is the year or not. I do know I want to improve my scrapbooking, and I know I want to write more.

NeverendingJen 12-10-2013 03:11 PM

My goals: 10 layouts a month, print all current and at least half of my backlog, focus on PL and do 12 paper layouts as well.

ripal 12-10-2013 03:16 PM

My goal is to focus on PL and really invest some time on making journal heavy AAM pages.

MommaTrish 12-10-2013 03:19 PM

my goal is to get 2-3 knitting projects done each month.

hollyxann 12-10-2013 03:55 PM

Yea I got nothin' right now lol
Maybe I should try to get LOs printed in 2014.

webseitler 12-10-2013 03:59 PM

I've been thinking that I want to dust off my personal blog and write about this... I have lots of things I want to do. LOL! Several years ago I blogged 100 things in 1,000 days (or something like that) and it was 1) really cool to do and 2) funny how many things I ended up doing naturally, even once I forgot about the list. :D

I taught myself to knit! I wrote about it here, if this helps: http://www.squidoo.com/teach_yourself_to_knit

heathergw 12-10-2013 04:45 PM

PL and mixed media artwork for the house... I want to fill my walls and in the process learn new techniques :)

nesser1981 12-10-2013 04:46 PM

Practice sewing, I can do a few things, but nothing great, I want to get better at that.

taracotta7 12-10-2013 04:48 PM

I need to print layouts! I have HUNDREDS that I haven't printed yet. I also need to get my albums organized before I do that. I want to order all new albums and redo all my books so far. I know that sounds silly but the OCD in me really can't take it much longer. Once I get it all uniform and organized, I will have them out for everyone to look through and be happy about it.

As for learning new stuff........I would love to learn a new "trick" in photoshop. Maybe one per month? Something in scrapbooking or photo editing.........I want to continue to learn and not get "stale" in PS.

kim517 12-10-2013 05:02 PM

I want to learn how to really use my external flash. I've learned more and more about photography the past two years and I've invested in quality equipment. But I have not taken the time to learn more about the flash (probably because I love natural light best). I'm sure knowing how to use it would make taking photos in certain situations a lot easier though!!

Darcy Baldwin 12-10-2013 05:08 PM

I will tackle canning. I will take up crocheting again and I want to learn to knit. I want to learn lost arts :)

rach3975 12-10-2013 06:26 PM

I want to do a better job staying on top of PL and balancing it with my regular pages. I need to get this year's PL finished (I'm a few months behind), then next year I'm hoping to finish 1 PL LO and 2 regular LOs a week.

tanyiadeskins 12-10-2013 06:59 PM

Im going to further my creative goal from last year which was learn more quilting, technique wise. I plan to keep that up this year.

As for scrapping I think it would be to learn balance between CTs and life better. I had to step back completely from CTing for a bit this year and now that I am starting up again I want to make sure I am active and a good CT member but that it does not rule my life either.

MamaBee 12-10-2013 07:03 PM

I just want to finish the projects that I've started... haha... I JUST finished P365 for 2011 yesterday... so still need to do PL2012 and 2013... finish AWITL 2012 and 2013, Dec 2012 and now 2013... various vacation albums over the years, J's yearbook from last year and this year... and AAM that I started a number of years ago and want to update and have that done for my 40th in 2015...

carriesmom 12-10-2013 07:23 PM

I would love to learn how to really sew. And maybe tackle PL.

lovely1m 12-10-2013 09:27 PM

I'd like to say I would like to learn to better use my camera, but to be perfectly honest, until I have the time to take a class, I don't actually see that happening. I would like to though.

SeattleSheri 12-10-2013 09:46 PM

I really don't have anything too substantial. I would like to get more into hybrid, but I don't have a goal per se, it's more of a desire seek out more opportunities.

glumirk 12-11-2013 12:06 AM

I'm hoping to have a healthy baby in January and by March be back into things like house cleaning and laundry routines. My blood pressure started spiking in July, and DH has been amazing, but I look forward to doing more than bare minimum.

Creatively I want to get back into my good routine for editing and organizing photos, and maybe take another editing class. It seems like when I do that I stay on top of scrapbooking too.

I've kindled a love for sewing this pregnancy, and I'd like to keep it up and finish up projects so I can start new ones.

marlathrall 12-11-2013 12:40 AM

I just want to continue doing what I've been doing- keeping up with PL and document our lives with my normal pictures too. We have a big vacation coming in January and I'm really looking forward to scrapping it.

nun69 12-11-2013 01:09 AM

Marla are you going on another cruise...I want to goooooo (in my saddest most whinnest voice :) ).....

I want to learn to sew muchy better (not sure that will happen)
I would love to learn to crochet, think I can handle 1 needle as opposed to 2.....
I also want to can like Darcy......plus now that I have a 2nd freezer I want to spend less money on junk and freeze things in advance

I creativily want to do PL hybrid next year and I want to keep my album out for the kids to see whenever they like:) even though I am behind on PL 2012 and 2013, my AWIYL 2013... I have them all organized on my HD and I am caught up on all of my DD except I haven't started this year LOL

also I want to put together a PL type album for my family reunion next July and have everyone journal in it and I just have to slip the pictures in :)

clearskies 12-11-2013 01:15 AM

I want to learn to take better pictures (always working on this) and how to edit them once I take them...

fifilur 12-11-2013 05:14 AM

I want to do more mixed media art journaling and pieces for my home.

I also want to do a really good job as a CT-member.

adrianka 12-11-2013 05:19 AM

I'd love to do more manual things as opposed to only digital. Not scrapbooking (you will never catch me doing it paper), but cards, maybe some painting, stuff like that. I'm missing it.

I'd also love to do more travel books and heritage layouts.

Learn new things in Photoshop as needed.

And build a shopping street from Lego (counts as creative, I hope :-)...

And these are not really goals, just wishes. I'm not pushing myself anywhere. Whatever I'll do or don't, it will be fine.

SweetMelissa 12-11-2013 09:50 AM

Mine is to keep up with Project Life.

dana 12-11-2013 11:07 AM

ooooh … i have a lot! this year i didn't really set many concrete goals for myself, and now that the year is over i feel like i got nothing accomplished ;) …. sooooo - for next year i want to:

1) finish up all my P365/PL albums (i have in-process albums from 2009 on .. yikes …) and stay current with PL for 2014.

2) organize all my pictures

3) learn to use manual mode on my new (one year old now!) camera (this is a BIG one from me)

4) make a quilt and MAYBE sew halloween costumes for the kids

5) organize all my scrapbooks, organize electronic scrapbook pages, print out any pages that haven't been printed yet, keep up to date with new pages.

6) make the kids' christmas stockings (have to hand sew sequins, etc), tree skirt and wreath.

i was thinking of coming up with 25 projects (some creative and some organization/cleaning related) and trying to complete each one in a two week time-frame .. some will take less time, some more - so hopefully it will all even out?!?

Chels85 12-11-2013 11:56 AM

Take more and better pictures
Improve my scrapping skills
Print pages
Crochet

crecia27 12-11-2013 12:06 PM

I am really missing needle work so I want to start working on making us all cross stitched Christmas stockings!

MandM13 12-12-2013 08:11 PM

I really enjoyed reading everyone's goals....I ended up posting on my blog as a result of this post, but, here's the short list :)

1. Perfect my digital design skills/Photoshop
2. Organize, Print, Create all the digital LO’s I’ve created over the past two years
3. Make Albums with my Paper LO’s (they are all currently sealed in storage containers O.o)
4. Create more handmade albums
5. Be a part of a couple Digital and Paper scrapping teams. I used to be extremely active in multiple creative teams both paper and digitally and I really miss the team work.
6. Have a Project Life (first one ever)
7. Create an Art Journal (I’m really excited about this one! I’ve already purchased my 2014 Art Journal Caravan w/Tangie Baxter)
8. Create an AAM Project(as I said above….it’s gonna be all about me….well, at least for 2 hours a week!!)
9. Take more photographs
10. Take time to stop and smell the roses!! (I want to be more reflective, have more gratitude, be more thankful…everyday!! not just around the holidays or Thanksgiving!)

purple_colourz 12-12-2013 08:46 PM

I want to take more pictures with my dslr again for 2014, I've neglected it way too much this year.

jaylensmom 12-12-2013 10:18 PM

I have a few...
1. Do PL...I don't think I've gotten past Week 1 in my past 2 attempts at starting it
2. Learn Photoshop
3. Learn how to take better photographs (and edit them)

Jengerbread88 12-12-2013 10:33 PM

Nicole, thanks for the tutorial! You rock!

I also want to learn canning. I've had this repeated dream recently of me standing in the kitchen canning pasta sauce I'd made from my own garden... which is funny because, while I've had a small garden in the past, it hasn't had nearly enough tomatoes for that, and also, I don't know how to can. So... I want to tackle the gardening AND the canning.

mrshobbes 12-13-2013 01:53 AM

Actually print layouts. Finish the two projects I started (one is pocket scrapbooking style).

omuli 12-17-2013 03:19 AM

(I'm new here - hope you don't mind me hopping in!)
1. I'd love to start building a doll house - I've been dreaming of that for a while now
2. I'd love to paint (or even start an art journal) with real paints and stuff
3. So far I've only been scrapping with PSE and last month I subscribed to PS cc and I'm determined to learn to scrap with it too

adi&co. 12-18-2013 12:40 AM

there are two things I want to do for 2014 and I really hope to stick with them!!

The first is to do a sort of elf on the shelf thing but with dinosaurs. i don't do dolls, like AT ALL but I really think my boys would love the magic of something coming to life and doing crazy things. i plan on doing it every saturday so it goes all year, but i have a week to prepare the next thing.

I also want to get back to taking pictures of my kids. I do take pics of them, but they tend to be snapshots now days rather than anything remotely professional looking. I'd like to do a picture a day and see how far I go. Last time I tried it I got to about March and just stopped.
