25lbs gone..."after" pic!

Sorry for those who have seen this already, but I'm pretty proud :) I forgot to take pictures before I started losing weight, but here's my "after" pic...25lbs gone! The camera angle was a bit weird so my legs look squatter than they actually are. LOL

taracotta7 08-18-2010 03:00 PM

Yeah!!! Congrats!

Jennilyn 08-18-2010 03:00 PM

First I started Weight Watchers and lost about 7lbs the first month, but then I had to change my diet for medical reasons, going on the Candida Diet. They took the rest of the weight off. Now I am off that diet and will be going back to the Weight Watchers way to continue on my journey. I can tell you from my research that Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is supposed to help a lot with weight loss. I always forget to take it though, but I did take it through my time on the Candida Diet.

It's definitely something you have to get used to. I wouldn't want to be on it just to lose weight, that's just a side effect of it :)

BrattyMeg 08-18-2010 03:35 PM

It took a while (like 2-3 weeks) for my body to adjust from the way I was eating to eating normal and now I'm having anxiety issues, but yes, I'm feeling a lot better :)

Joana1n 08-18-2010 03:53 PM

That's awesome, congrats! Wow, the candida diet is HARD. I'm gluten- and dairy-free for my nursling and that's pretty challenging at times. At least if you can't eat what everyone else eats, you can be thin! :)

Great work!

Oh and Gemma....I've noticed your weight loss ticker. Way to go on your weight loss too girl!

Jennilyn 08-18-2010 08:25 PM

It took me 3 months to lose the 25lbs. I still have 30-40 to go, but I'm maintaining right now.

Wow, I was just reading about this Candida diet. It looks sooo hard! BUT....I am wondering if this won't help my major health issues. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 15 months ago and have terrible fatigue and joint pain. I went cold turkey of all of my meds 3 weeks ago (yes, I know...not the way to do it - but I was so fed up) and am ready to find a way to feel better naturally. I gained 25 lbs in just over a year on all these meds and my pain and fatigue are not much better anyway. So, all it has done is made me depressed because I have gained this weight, my skin is horrible and I walk around like a zombie from taking 5 scrips (most at the max dose).

Anyway, I am rambling but I wanted to ask you a few things (if you don't mind sharing).

Are you exercising along with the diet?

Did you have a really rough start on the diet with the headaches, etc? That part scares me.

Jennilyn 08-18-2010 09:35 PM

I didn't exercise while on the diet because I was barely taking in enough calories to function. I guess I was stubborn about eating strange and new things. I only ate 2 meals a day, no snacks. They say you do need to slow down whatever exercise you normally do though because you are in a healing process/detox.

I didn't feel that great for a few weeks and felt lightheaded most of the time after that just because I wasn't eating enough. But overall it wasn't horrible. I didn't have any huge headaches or anything. Just look up Herxheimer Reaction to learn more about it. Just know that whatever symptoms you are having, it WILL go away. It's just your body reacting to the release of toxins in your body from the yeast dying.

Woohoo!! Congrats...you look awesome!

Yes, the candida diet is hard. I had to do it several years ago and I didn't last all that long on it. I probably lost 10 pounds in a few weeks though. If I had stayed on it and could eat like that long term, I'd be super thin!! Unfortunately, my body craves all the things it's not supposed to have. That's normal though I'm sure!!
