Have you been to Savannah, GA?

We are thinking about taking a little excursion to Savannah. I don't know a lot about the town so I thought I'd reach out to you guys.

If you have been, do you have any suggestions on things to do, places to stay or places to eat? I am looking around on the web and there seems to be a ton of things.

Any help is appreciated.

I haven't been. It's on my wishlist, though!!

I have not been there, but I have heard that it is absolutely gorgeous!!!! My partner wants to take me there, but he wants to go by train and I'm not so sure about that.

One of my girlfriends told me that it is a charming, beautiful old southern town with tons of nightlife. She said it was a great place for a girlfriend weekend.

Hope this helps - It's definitely on my list of things for this year ... WHEN IT'S COOLER!

YES!! The kids and I were there last June because my daughter went to the National Senior Beta Convention. It is so amazing! We stayed in the Historic District and had the most amazing time!! We didn't eat anywhere exciting but we did go on a nighttime haunted tour of the historic district which was a blast!! Most of our trip was spent at the convention though

It's been awhile since we visited, but I love Savannah! Forsyth Park, Wormsloe & the Historic district were my favorites. My kids loved the candy store along the waterfront. I liked wandering around Bonaventure cemetery too, but the rest of my family could have passed on that. Tybee Island was a short drive away & a great repreve from the heat & humidity.

I just got back from Savannah. It's a lovely town, we stayed right on the river because we were technically there for a convention and we pretty much kept to the historic disctrict. We walked everywhere! The squares are gorgeous, there are a lot of really neat little art galleries. We went to the Telfair museums, and did one of the hop on hop off tours which I like because you get some history and an overview so you can check out things that you want to go back to do. Definitely hit Leopold's if you love ice cream. The Pirate House is a fun, very touristy spot, you can eat and then they'll give you a little tour. St. John's Cathedral is really pretty and we enjoyed the Colonial Park Cemetery as well.

I have been there, but it was a LOOONG time ago (before any of the girls). I don't remember much. It was pretty, the moss covered plantation trees were so pretty, it was hot (mid summer), and someone was fishing and caught a stingray or something like that.

We did take a side trip to Tybee Island and ate at a place called the Crab Shack. It was such a unique dining experience, but soooo good! Here's the website: https://thecrabshack.com/

Thanks guys for all the information. I think we are going to do one day and one night later this month. Not a ton of time, but will be nice to get a feel for the area.

I will definitely be looking into your suggestions!

Much appreciated!!!!

YES!
We stop for a night on our way to Disney. We have stayed 3 times. Love to walk the cobbled street and have a nice dinner. Someday I'd love to do a grown up only trip and spend a few days there.
