Rainbow Loom

Anybody else with a young daughter who is Rainbow Loom addicted? ;) My seven year old is a like a one-person Rainbow Loom bracelet factory! Seriously. She pulls up how-to videos on YouTube and crafts along for hours at a time!

She's getting really good at it!

Has this fad hit your house?

carrie1977 01-26-2014 11:36 AM

Both of my kids! All.Day.Long. Ugh...those little rubber bands are EVERYWHERE! They've taken control of my home. LOL!

MamaBee 01-26-2014 11:41 AM

My son wanted this so badly (how he found about it, I don't know)... but when he was looking at having to spend his Christmas money on it, he instead chose a farming game and a remote car... much to my hubby's happiness - he wouldn't have been happy with the rubber bands around everywhere, but at least they hurt less stepping on than legos... haha...

My 14 year old, who has always loved arts and crafts, loves hers. She has two looms and tons of bands. My husband was just ranting about the bands all over the place.

They are so colorful. They would make good scrapbook pages. It will be neat for your kids to remember after the fad is long gone.

My 9 year old son, LOVES them...He watches the youtube videos and would do it all day if he could....well, not all day...he still loves his Minecraft as well! :)

lingovise 01-26-2014 01:21 PM

my 7 year old son is "hooked" ... *snort! thus far he's only mastered the single and double strand bracelets... but is begging to learn some of the more complicated patterns. oye. which basically boils down to ME having to learn them first! lol!

kscwgirl 01-26-2014 06:33 PM

Yep. Abby is a big fan.. she has 3 looms, thousands of rubber bands and spends her weekends on youtube. It's exhausting lol

Sherri Tierney 01-26-2014 07:29 PM

My 11 year old is way into them. She makes a few a day. My 8 year old likes them as well but doesn't have as much patience. He'd rather play Minecraft.

My 11 year old recently picked up crocheting scarves so she goes back and forth between the two crafts.

Kjersti 01-26-2014 07:46 PM

Yes!! My daughter Faith loves them - she's 9.

monia13 01-26-2014 08:34 PM

My 8 year old daughter is into it as well. She even made a video herself (with a little help from me). Here is a link http://youtu.be/W5kGOX5geDY

Can I confess that I've used it more than my 8 yr old? I love it! My 11 yr old son loves using it too. Just need more bands, and they're EVERYWHERE!

marnel 01-26-2014 09:10 PM

Heddy, my dd does the same thing. I laughed so hard today b/c she was doing it in the car and pulled on one holding the other side with her mouth and it busted, OMG not funny but funny. Her face was priceless.

See, this is why I kind of wish my kids liked it! I want an excuse to play, LOL! My 5 year old made a bracelet on a friends' loom a few months ago and I expected her to be begging for one, but she hasn't given it another thought. I think it's too hard for her...she just turned 5 and was still 4 when she tried it. The boys (10 and 7) haven't shown any interest either.

k23m 01-27-2014 12:41 AM

I love hearing all these stories...and thanks for all including the ages of your children who use this! I was thinking my girl might like it for her birthday, but she will just be turning 7. Sounds like she might be able to still get into it. Yay! :)

I saw the loom at Micheals (and I also saw a knock off at the dollarama). Does anyone have a non-original version and does it work as good? I dont think it was that expensive anyway. and are the bands hard to find/keep up with? How many do you use for a (basic) bracelet?

Jengerbread88 01-27-2014 12:46 AM

I have a 2 year old boy, so I'm waaaay not the target market, and I doubt I'd wear the bracelets if I made them... but they look SO fun. I kind of want one.

flergs 01-27-2014 05:42 AM

we have a knock off and it's perfect.

MissKim 01-27-2014 07:47 AM

I don't know what brands, but there is a single loom and then the "real" loom. The single loom can only do single bracelets. The real loom can be moved around to make the different patterns and items. My mom originally got my daughter the single loom at Justice. I got the big loom for her for her birthday and she loves it so much more. So just be sure you're getting the bigger loom if you're going to invest in it.

fifilur 01-27-2014 08:11 AM

This looks like so much fun! My son does NOT have the patience for something like this though.

dana 01-27-2014 09:36 AM

we are huge fans at our house .... i think we have 5 looms between the two girls and 3 cases of rubber bands LOL ... i love it!

Robin Carlton 01-27-2014 12:18 PM

Another addict here too! I have two girls 10 & 3 and I play with it a ton too. There are sooo many videos on youtube and really, it's super easy to follow along with most of them. We have oodles of these bracelets around the house now LOL. It's a great gift!

crecia27 01-27-2014 12:24 PM

Yes, and she takes it with her wherever we go! I love that she is crafty!

Libby Pritchett 01-27-2014 12:24 PM

HAHA Ok, *I* want one! That looks entirely fun!

MommaTrish 01-28-2014 12:59 PM

Zach is totally addicted to his as well, especially since he learned to look up tutorials for it on Pinterest.

This hit our area last summer... and the boys (6 and 9) broke it using it so much! I had to learn to make the bracelets, and then show them...butterfly, inside out, triple loop... oh, so many, lol! They were hooked. Now, not so much. But, I'm ok with that... I found rubber bands everywhere!

lingovise 01-28-2014 04:49 PM

I've never seen one of the larger looms... where do you get those?

MommaTrish 01-28-2014 04:57 PM

Zach's came with the kit that he got.

jk703 01-28-2014 11:02 PM

Loni... I think you can get that or similar at Michaels.... :) At least by me, that is a craft store.
